Amazon is just the best!

i have to say that i think being a Prime member has its benefits.

so i placed an order for the $4.99 Your Sister's Sister blu-ray. it was temporarily OOS and i waited a few weeks or a couple or whatever, no big deal. it was a good movie, but i don't need to see it tomorrow.

so i tracked it and it seemed to have stalled in IN. this was only USPS shipping mind you even though with Prime you get 2-day, i wasn't in a rush. so i saw it stopped and should have arrived yesterday. it didn't so i had Amazon call me and in a matter of seconds i had a replacement on its way for tomorrow (Saturday) delivery. 1 day delivery on a product that seems to be only offered by 3rd party offered through Amazon, but whatever.

this is like the 2nd time this has happened and 2nd time for such a pleasant experience.

i just always liked Amazon, even if Prime is up $20 for me, next Mar. 2015.

so do you like Amazon's service overall?

Correction: Amazon was just the best PRIOR to 2012. Now, they've gone to the dogs, fallen from grace, and become greedy capitalistic pigs.

isn't that the "American" way?

They're great, never have any problems with them at all.

One of their drones crashed into my roof last week and did about a thousand bucks in damage. So, no... not impressed.

You mean a business is trying to make money? Get out of town!

I've had issues with Amazon, but compared to other online retailers, they're still the cream of the crop.

I'm admittedly an Amazon fanboy. They've always had good customer service when I needed it (which honestly is rare, I think I've only had to exchange out two items in the nine years or so I've shopped with them) and are reasonably priced. I like the Prime service they offer and I always get my items in a reasonable amount of time. Amazon also fills the void for me as I live in a town where Walmart and Target are my main choices for buying Blu-ray's and DVD's so the more random or obscure stuff I can't find in town can be found through them which is nice.

In spite of a few relatively minor complaints I've had about them over the years, I am a big Amazon fan. There is really nowhere local to buy a lot of the random dvds and cds that I am into, so Amazon gets a lot of my money on those items.

I saw Divergent last Saturday with my kid, and afterward she wanted to read the book. So I ordered it (physical, not kindle) on Sunday, with expected Prime delivery date of Tuesday, her birthday. I got it on Monday, thereby allowing time to wrap!

Another fan here. For me, it's really about the convenience and smaller things that make it great for me. I rarely buy CDs, but yesterday one came out that I wanted, but I didn't really want to deal with going out and buying it, but wanted to listen it to it while at work. So I noticed that it dropped a couple dollars in my cart, so I bought it and it came with that autorip service, so I could start listening to it right away. And to top it off, I just noticed you could pay using points from Citi now, so I had enough saved up to cover the purchase. So yeah, that made my day.

I am very happy with amazon.ca and amazon.co.uk, but for a non-American amazon.com is worthless because of the astronomical shipping.

For books, cds, and dvd/blu, Amazon.com & amazon.co.uk have the best customer service I've experienced online.

For toys and vinyl albums, they suck at shipping. They'll cram records and toy collectables into boxes that are waaaaay too small.

I haven't ordered an album from them on vinyl in a while but didn't they make a point a while back to mention that they have special boxes now for records to ensure they arrive safely? I agree with some larger things though like action figures or whatever sometimes they don't choose the best size and they get kind of crammed in. Luckily for me if I buy figures from them I'm not a packaging nut and generally open my figures.

Yeah so my recent experience with Amazon:

Bought a PS4 (Used) from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $296
Received PS4 (Used)
Tested PS4, didn't work
Contacted Amazon (Web Chat), setup a return and then asked them to find me a PS4 for $296.
They offered me a new PS4 for $300.
Placed Order, Received New PS4
Shipped off AWD PS4 (Used)
AWD PS4 arrives to them, few days pass
No progress made toward refund, contact support, they expedite refund

I like them a lot.

I've had the occasional problem when it looks like UPS decided to run over a package a few times, but Amazon is always easy to deal with when this happens.

Their customer service is probably the best I've ever encountered (Walmart being maybe as good). I've had a couple of bad experiences with them, but for the most part, they are superior.

But as a company that is pushing its weight around a little too much, I try to make my purchases elsewhere. Their best deals are usually only around BF or from the Warehouse Deals anyway. For someone willing to buy Prime they are a pretty painless way to shop -- if you are satisfied with mainly mediocre pricing.

I think amazon has great customer service.

Florida will have Amazon sales tax May 1. Sucks that they give us less than two weeks notice.

When dist. centers were built in your state, did you notice faster shipping times?

They built one in Chattanooga, TN when I lived there. Lived about 15 minutes from the distribution center. Everytime an item shipped from there to me, it was routed to Atlanta before it came to my house. -screwy-

Still got them in my 2 day window though.

We have a distribution center here in San Bernardino, one of the newest ones, but all of my stuff gets delivered from North Las Vegas and Kentucky. It's fine since I still get it within the 2-day window.

Though I order less frequently now with the $35 minimum for free shipping, I still order from Amazon. It's simply the best source for many of the miscellaneous things that I need and can't find locally at a decent price. (Though I'm seeming to order fewer DVDs and Blu Rays than I used to.)

Re: Amazon is just the best!

They do have some weird things, like not being able to call them and actually talk to someone, but I suppose that's an anachronism these days. But yeah, they have what's probably the best possible service for an online store.
