I was just browsing around and found this place called Video now.com and was wondering what they are like?

The reason I ask is because their shipping rates are seriously cheap. And if you buy two or more DVD's, its free???

This sound too good to be true and I was wondering if it is?

Never heard of them so be careful!!! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

I used them and they were fine. Free delivery (if you order 2 or more items) from Canada took quite a while but they shipped the DVD's separately since they had one in stock, and one was backordered.

Did have a problem with the Canadian to U.S. dollar translation. Their prices were in US$, but my credit card charge was about a dollar higher. Just talked to the credit card company and they adjusted to the original invoiced amount.

Oh well, here we go.

I am today ordering two DVD's. I'll keep you all posted on what happens I guess...

Hmmm, a bit concerned at present. Ordered days ago and their server still has not acknowledged that I placed the order.

Lucky it was a cheap order hey!

The saga continues, i'll keep you all informed.

It took them about 3 days to show my order, but they came through just fine. Even shipped the in stock one first, then the back ordered one weeks later - for free!

Yeah, that's cool mate. It's not a very expensive order, just an experimental order to see what they're like.

I've ordered from them on several occations in the past - actually I put in another order this morning http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif

If the product is preordered or in stock everything is fine, with backorders it can take a *very* long time before you get them.

I noted this morning that they have a new acknowledgement system for the CC information which looks much better than the old system. They never have been very big on information, be it movie info or order info it's very limited.

Also I think that they charge your card at the time of the order, not when the order ships - this can lead to problems if there are any cancellations in the future.

All in all I give them a weak thumbs up.

Cool, thanks for the info Knut.

Quick update, they have my order on record and shipped it yesterday.

No hassles so far.

Well I received my order yesterday in good working condition.

Video-now seem to be quite good so far. Fast service, good selection and free shipping as well!

I'll buy from them again.

I know it's free shipping but it took 20 days to get to you and that's not fast service

Fhrx 08-24-00 12:44 AM

Well, this is true.

But for nothing I can out up with 20 days.

I suppose you're right if you can wait for 20 days. Only problem with them is they charged your CC once you put your order thru'. I might use them, you never know since there is not much bargains out there for international customers.

Fhrx 08-24-00 04:53 AM

Yeah, that's one thing I've noticed actually. Most of the stores that have really good prices don't ship overseas?

That's one drawback of being down here I guess.

To me Canada is looking more and more promising. Many hot DVDs will actually have a lower SRP there than in the US and usually shipping costs are much lower than with US stores. Take a look at the following: http://www.absound.ca - one of the worst online ordering systems around but their prices are usually among the very best anywhere! Buy 3 discs and S/H is roughly 6,5 USD. http://www.video-now.com - have been discussed above. http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/ - completely free s/h, usually a bit to expensive but the savy shopper can make some great bargains every now and then. http://www.dv-depot.com/ - fair prices, good s/h cost also comes across as dependable chaps.

With the US stores shipping and handling usually kills most deals. If you use BFL I guess that Express.com might be an option - they sure are reliable though!
