Disclaimer: I use both Geoff's links along with ****** and I didn't see a One and Only thread - so...

Today I got an e-mail confirming my purchase at Buy.com -
quote:
We have received confirmation of your recent purchase from Buy.com, order number 6123xxx. Your ******.com account has been credited with $25.86. This reflects the amount of your order excluding tax, shipping, gift wrapping, gift certificates or coupons.

The problem is, this order is not in my order history and when I try to view the details of the order, it says:
quote:
You are not the shopper for this Order Number.

Should I report this to ****** or just let them figure it out? It'd be kinda nice to get a free $26 coupon .

Sheesh...can't you run a freaking search? Oops, wait you're a moderator. I'm just kidding. Don't hurt me.

Seriously, though I'd report it to ******...see what they do.

I know - i was too lazy to search - I checked the front 2 pages, nothing there...so...

I'll probably report it - and lose $25.86, I just want to know how I got the credit for it - and what someone bought that got that big of a credit from Buy.com.

This is very interesting. I got a phone call today from my Credit Card company, stating there were some suspicious activity. We went through all the charges (which is tough when you have a bunch of preorders that you placed months ago but which are just now being charged).
It turns out that there were three orders which I didn't place, including a large order at buy.com. It looks like someone has cracked one of the e-tailers and is racking up charges!

I was thinking that someone had fraudulently used my account or my credit card, but since the rebate for Buy.com is only 3%, and the rebate was $25.86, that would mean there was an $862 purchase (or somewhere thereabouts). (un)Fortunately niether of my credit cards has that much available (probably not even $100 ). I'm going to contact Buy.com and ******.com to see what's up with the rebate...

I finally heard back from ******, and I guess they were having problems with their system:
quote:
Dear Blake Kunisch,
Thank you for your email. We are aware that some ****** members were sent
confirmation emails regarding orders that they did not place. Please be
assured that we are correcting this. We apologize that you were forwarded
this email incorrectly.

Sincerely,
Shereen
