I did netflix when they initially started (before the Marquee program) but haven't used them since.

With all the deals drying out, I wanted to join Marquee and give it a shot.

But now to join it's harder than ever:

1) You can only have 3 out at a time, not 4.

2) The first month is no longer free.

I live in North Carolina, which also means I'll probably get the discs 4 days after I request them. I notice that most discs are always out of stock as well. Do you think it's worth it to join?

I also know they have a bunch of free rental codes out there (10 free rentals, etc.) but if the only way I can use those free rentals is by joining marquee, doesn't that just defeat the purpose of "free?"

Can I quit Marquee, and still have 10 credits for rentals? Does 10 free rentals means 10 free non-marquee rentals? Otherwise, it's very misleading.

I hadn't seen the "three movies" limit before. But it looks like the normal "4 movies a month with your first month free" membership option is still available. Just click on the coupon section at DVDtalk, look for the "seven free rentals" coupon from Netflix, click on it, and it will take you to a "first month free with 4 movies at a time" sign up page.

I quite like Netflix. On average, I can rent 6-8 movies per month, almost always have a DVD at hand when I want to watch one, and I think their selection is utterly incredible for an older/art/foreign film buff like me. New releases can be tough to get, but in my experience if you put a new release at the top of your queue even if it is out of stock, you will often get it.
