Anyone ever have luck getting Amazon to honor expired Gift Certs?

While moving I found an old $50 GC that I never used.
Amazon supposedly has good Customer Service if you can get a hold of them.

Anyone ever try to resurrect an old certificate that was never used?

I didn't think Amazon's gift cards expired? Is this a card with a code on it? Or some kind of promotional tie-in?

From Amazon Help:

Previously Expired Gift Cards:

The expiration date for Gift Cards issued after October 1, 2005 are waived and may be redeemed for eligible purchases notwithstanding any stated expiration date. Any Gift Cards issued prior to that date expire in accordance with their terms. Expiration dates also do not apply for such Gift Cards issued in CA, CT, LA, ME, MD, MA, MT, NH, ND, OK, RI, VT, WA. Expiration dates do not apply in any other state solely to the extent as prohibited or limited by law.

Thanks Terry, I'll try to talk it out with them. They're hard to get on the phone.

Followup--was able to cite their policy and they honored the GC. It had expired in December 2005!

Amazon reps are hard to get on the phone? Are you serious? Their call back service has me talking to a live person in about 20 seconds.

What did you say to get them to honor it? I have a $50 GC that was issued 5/24/05 and expired 5/24/07.

I meant finding the phone number took some googling. I could only find email help on the site. Anyway I just pleaded my case and they really offered no resistance. I did have the original GC and number in front of me.

A bit off-topic for here but the Amazon Giftcard expiry rules in Britain are somewhat more strict!<blockquote>"Gift certificates and gift cards and unused portions of gift certificates and gift cards expire one year from the date of issue, where permissible under applicable law"</blockquote>Maybe they'll change that one, recently having been in the news regarding the relatively small amount of compamny tax they pay here as compared to their local turnover.
