Good DVD / BD shop in LA area?

Hi,

I travel to LA frequently and like to shop for BluRays besides the regular Best Buy or Target selection. Unfortunately DVD Planet in Huntington Beach has closed down.
Can you recommend any similiar B&M shops with a good selection in the greater LA area?

Many thanks.

Amoeba Records on Sunset Blvd has a pretty great DVD and Blu Ray selection, especially for cult and fringe titles, prices can be a little bit high, but they have a lot of used stuff as well.

Amoeba is definitely worth a visit. Head upstairs for their DVDs/BDs.

And if you've got more time to kill, walk about 30 yards to the Arclight and catch a movie.

There's also Second Spin in Santa Monica and Sherman Oaks, though neither location is quite as good as the Costa Mesa store. Sadly I found out in the process of writing this that the Ontario Mills superstore closed down in April. It was huge, so I can understand why it's out of business.

Then there's Fry's Electronics in Anaheim, Fountain Valley and several other locations. It's a chain, but they do have a wide selection, and can have decent prices. The FV Fry's is actually pretty close to where DVD Planet was, but Anaheim has a bigger selection.

Amoeba is a fun store to be in, but their prices are ridiculously high. Their attitude seems to be: "Recession? Hmm? What recession?"

Did that take over the Mills space once occupied by Virgin Records? That place was MASSIVE.

LaserBlazer (although I might have the spelling wrong) on Pico Blvd in West LA has a great selection, but lousy prices.

Is LaserBlazer even still open?

You can find deals at Amoeba but it's hit-and-miss and you can't be in a hurry.
Don't forget to check out their foriegn section - it can have wild deals and some fantastic non-R1 titles.

Otherwise, its pretty much shifted to online sales if you're looking for bargains.

I was in Sherman Okas about a month ago and was looking for Second Spin. Is it still on Ventura Blvd near the Galleria?
