I am interested in buying a DVD set from them. They have it in stock and cheapest by $15 from anyone else. Finding really mixed reviews but most of the negative ones seem to be mostly avoidable.

Just curious if it's worth taking a shot using them or not. Thanks!

(I did try a search but nothing really came up with this topic, except for one in 2000, so if there is and I missed it, sorry!)

In years past they were really bad for me, but in the past couple of years I have placed 5 orders and always got the stuff quickly.

Thanks, think I'm going to risk it. My credit card is really good at alerting to me if something bad is going on and it's a good deal. It helps to have someone reaffirm it!

They are one of the old guard of online stores. Very popular for DVD's and electronics purchases c. 1998-2000. But then their prices became not so great, and shipping charges kind of killed it, so people stopped shopping there. They were acquired a couple years ago by some Japanese company, so any past experiences with Buy.com may not be applicable to today's site.

Well, for what I want, they have free shipping, so that's always a help. Order the set, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it comes ok!

Anytime I've ever ordered from Buy.com I've had good service although their prices are hit/miss, and that was before Rakuten. Now they have this silly deal where you earn points for buying there. I don't care about Rakuten Super Points, just give me a good price on something I want/need and I'll buy it there.

and "Rakuten.com" is so much easier to remember than "Buy.com"..

From the email I was sent, they were bought out by a company in Japan which explains the name. For what it's worth, the set I bought came today. Packaging was good; came in a box with a air pillow thing. Was exactly what was pictured, so I'm happy.
