Why is amazon shipping movies in bubble mailers now!?
 

I don't know if you've all been experiencing this, but amazon recently switched from mailing my movies in boxes to mailing them in bubble mailers. This is a big problem for movies that come in cardboard packaging or slip covers.

My recent BTTF blu ray came all dented up, and I got a Simpsons dvd set for a gift, but I'm embarrassed to give it because it's beat to hell.

I've been leaving packaging feedback for these orders, but I strongly doubt amazon will take the feedback and go back to using boxes. Is this happening for anyone else?

are you ordering from Amazon or fulfillment by Amazon. All my Amazon stuff come in boxes, most of my Fulfilled by Amazon.com orders come in bubble mailers.

Mine come in a variety of ways; sometimes it's a bubble mailer, sometimes its a small box, sometimes its a bigger box.

Direct from amazon. Like I said, it's only recently that they're pulling this.

Same for me. I order a lot from Amazon and the packaging really varies from order to order.

It's a real crapshoot when you order from Amazon... sometimes I'll get things well-packaged and protected, other times things will arrive rattling around loose in a box or in a bubble mailer.

I've been returning a lot of things to Amazon lately because of damage during shipping, and the replacements don't come any better packaged.

They're probably going to cancel my account eventually, but if they can't be bothered to ship my merchandise in a way that it will put in my hands in like new condition, then I can't say it will be a very big loss. If I order a $200+ blu-ray boxed set, I expect it to arrive in pristine condition, and not beaten all to shit because tossed it into a flimsy, unprotected box.

No it's not. Been getting bubbles for years with them.

If you have a problem, instead of complaining here, CALL THEM. They have great CS, when this has happened before, they send another, in a box.

It varies. I just got 7 different packages from Amzaon the last couple days. 2 of those were shipped in bubble mailers. My copy of Avatar collectors edition came in a bubble mailer and killed the slipcover while my copy of Heat came in a small box. I don’t know how they decide what gets shipped in what.

I've left packaging feedback. I'm not going to call and request replacements when the general consensus is that their packaging simply does not change with reships. And I'm not gonna risk my account getting cancelled for too many returns over something like dented merchandise that still works.

If people called the retailer and that's it, there'd be no need for this part of the forum. I wanted to know if other shoppers were noticing a similar trend, and that's what I was able to find out.

Between yesterday and today I got 14 packages from Amazon, all were in boxes, even single blu-ray/dvd orders.

I've been getting bubble mailers from them for years, all Amazon stock. Still mostly boxes though.

Got 2 bubble mailers yesterday but no problems, everything in perfect condition.

One thing I've noticed is that the bubble mailers tend to come without packaging slips, with bothers my OCD.

I got all my BF stuff in boxes...and thank god because I think bubble mailers are pretty worthless.

I get stuff all different ways. I actually prefer the bubble mailers over items banging around a big box without packing material. The best is when they shrink wrap the items to the cardboard and put that in a box.

I've never gotten a bubble mailer from Amazon. I think it might have to do with the way they ship things to Hawaii though.

Shipping prices are always going up. Everyone wants free shipping (or even expects it sometimes) and all retailers have to find ways to keep costs down.

This is nothing new. Amazon has been using bubble mailers for years. Probably about half my orders from them come in the envelopes and I have yet to have had a problem big enough to warrant a return.
