the remodeled Best Buy...
anyone have any comments on the new remodeled Best Buy stores? they are absolutely hidious. the cd and movie section is only a couple aisles now, and no more categories, just a-z.
it is very annoying to navigate though, you try to walk straight and you run into something, so you weave around the store trying to find things and end up running into kids playing the videogames and you cant cross in front of them without screwing up their game (if you care).
they have some weird giant lamp shade things hanging from the middle of the store and weird signs all around and my store has 2 cash registers. with only 2 registers and a winding path thru product to get there, it is gonna be a disaster if youre going there for black friday.
anyone like these new stores?

Yeah, they're fucking awful.
In the store I was in, the CD and DVD/BD racks were really awkward, and packed in so close together that it's next to impossible to see what's on the bottom rows of the racks. There's not enough room for more than one person to move through the narrow aisles. Not to mention that the CDs and movies are in the middle of the fucking store, making it difficult to browse because most of the store's traffic goes right through that section.
The whole store feels really unorganized, and it's difficult to navigate through and find things you're looking for. It's like weaving through a fucking maze. It's going to be a fucking nightmare on Black Friday.

I'm sure they think they've modernized the store but in effect they've turned it into a maze with expectations of disaster. I'll join the consensus thus far in saying I hate it. DVD selection has been cut badly, curvy aisles, horror/scifi/action/ all lumped together, their regular prices have NEVER been good, it sucks really bad now. -kd5-

I've been going there less since the remodels. Just isn't the same.

I used to go to BB on occasion to browse the cd section, and would often buy some stuff on the spur of the moment. The new racks make browsing impossible, so my trips to BB will only occur when I have something specific to buy.

I've noticed that things look different, but I mainly just head straight to the DVD/BD section and that area, while moved, seems exactly the same to me.

Glad they haven't changed yours yet but I suspect they're all getting the makeover and it's just a matter of time before your favorite BB's are a jumbled up mess like all the others. -kd5-

Re: the remodeled Best Buy...
Both of mine suck really badly right now. I hate the change. It's a mess and hard to find things. So much is missing. Prices suck.
I remember Circuit City having this problem with the a to z format ... skipped letters! Your looking and "WHAM!" it skips like two entire letters and the employees have no clue as to why?
I don't know how many times I've looked for Everybody Loves Raymond, Nash Bridges, or like Frasier in the TV section of Best Buys and not finding one E, N, or F title at all. Oh, and Godzilla movies. The movies would skip from F to H. Where are all of the G movies?
After about 50 trips to Best Buys and walking out empty handed over the past few years we just don't go there to shop unless it's for something specific. Oh crud and even then it's like "Do you have any headphones?" ... and the employees don't know what that is or where it is. You can't find anything but stupid PC mics. Headphones for crying out loud! It's an electronics store ... and no headphones!?
I remember the good old days of Best Buys! Isle after isle of DVDs! Games galore! Yellow sticker deals on anime! A whole section of Godzilla and Gamera movies! Freebie giveaways like comics and stuff that was supposed to come with a game or movie upon purchase but they just had too many and started giving them away! That Anime Insider freebie they always had. Now I never find anything!
But then ... then ... my little brother goes in there a few months back and walks out with this for $10!!!
Code Geass Lelouch Of The Rebellion: Part 1 - Limited Edition
Currently $89.99 on Bestbuy.com
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Code+Gea...eass&lp=2&cp=2
... and of course it was the last one they had ... and he won't sell it to me.
Curse you Best Buy!!!

I used to go to Best Buy on a monthly basis for movies/games/CDs...now I even get most of my "big ticket" items like TVs and computers online. I don't even shop online with BB anymore...they just aren't as competitive as they used to be, IMHO.

Mine was never very easy to get to the music/movie section, so the change hasn't affected that aspect any. I did notice that there is more room for crap like treadmills, than there is for the music/movie section. It's to be expected, though.

Terrible. Can't find anything, have to ask and of course most of the young empolyees have no clue anyway. I find myself buying a whole lot less, which is actually a good thing for me!

i have no problems with the way they changed it. music always took up too much space and i'm glad they cut it by more than half. the best change they made was in the tv section, by mounting all the tvs in 3 rows. makes it much easier to do comparisons.

Anyone go there Black Friday?
That was a fucking nightmare. They had bins of sale blu-rays and DVDs stacked up that turned the floor of the store into a maze, which doubled as a common feeder to the checkout. So in order to hunt down items I had to wind my way through a giant rat maze while people stood in line around the merchandise.
On the plus side, the line moved quickly and I managed to score a lot of cheap stuff.

Not digging this reorganization at all... Very confusing and jumbled. Will continue to purchase a majority from Amazon.com, cheaper most of the time anyway. I miss be able to browse in a good retail store.

Re: the remodeled Best Buy...
I went into one last week or so and dont care to much for it. I wonder when BestBuy will start offering service contracts on Dvd's like CC? I walked past a male customer who I guess was going to buy a TV and a female employee telling him about her TV that went bad and if she had not purchased the service contract her TV would have been a total loss but since she got the service it was fixed for free.

Went into my local BB today. Management should slap whoever thought the new floor plan would be a good idea. What a jumbled mess.
