I've had Prime for 2 or 3 years now and, as most of you probably know, when you place an order, it defaults to "FREE Two-Day Shipping" and to ship the items separately for faster shipping. I've never had this happen before and don't particularly mind it in this case, but I just received two completely separate orders in the mail today in the same package.
I still received separate shipping notice e-mails, but no acknowledgment of a combo shipment. I don't know if makes a difference but my Prime orders still ship via UPS. There was no packing slip in the package either (but that has been hit or miss all year). I'm curious if this happens again next week as I have three different discs under three different orders ready for Tuesday. I actually prefer it as it means it's less likely Amazon will ship in a padded mailer versus a box. UPS + Padded Mailers = Damaged Product. |
Re: Amazon Prime?
I guess I don't particularly mind it, but if it gets to a point where they are intentionally delaying shipping certain items so that they can combine orders, I will not be pleased.

Re: Amazon Prime?
I've been debating getting a membership to Prime for a while now. Think I'm finally going to do it. For $79 a year it seems like its pretty worth it especially since I tend to buy a lot of items from Amazon since the best store selection for Blu-ray's/DVDs in town are Wal-Mart and Target. Plus its a nice perk getting the items faster obviously as well. It sucks though I missed the free student Prime membership for a year by only a couple months as I just graduated. Ah well.

It seems to be hit or miss with these couriers depending on the area. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've gotten ONTRAC courier a handful of times here in Southern California and I haven't had a problem yet. The packages actually get to me next day instead of two-day which is nice, but I'm still more comfortable with UPS or FedEx. That said, I've never had any problems with any Prime shipment (and I've had a lot) other than the rare one that gets held up for some reason, so it's totally worth it for me.

By the way, if you are a student or have a university email, you can get Amazon Prime free for a year.

Re: Amazon Prime?
Prime is the best. I buy all kinds of stuff on Amazon.
I noticed that there are two gigantor hubs here in Phoenix. So my stuff usually comes in next-day, even if it's just two-day shipping. |
