Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
Bet once the free Amazon Prime's expire... the prices will drop again... just a suspicion.

Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
Yeah, I've been meaning to buy The Prestige on Blu, but was waiting for a good price. Now it's over $30 at Amazon. WTF...

Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
Deep Discount has actually been pricing many items better than Amazon lately. My cart on dvdpricesearch.com has very few items priced lowest at Amazon and more items priced cheaper at Deep Discount than any other vendor. It seems Amazon has taken their licks in the price war and is retreating.

Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
Fight Club went back down to 13.99 today. The Prime idea may have some validity.

Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
EVERYTHING went down in price yesterday.
Well at least the one Blu-ray I am tracking went down by $1! The Thing is now $11.49! |

^I seem to see Gold Box deals on items in my cart more than the wish list. It also appears that newly added items appear more than those that have been there for a long time.
A BD (The Natural) I added to my cart yesterday is discounted in my Gold Box today, for example: 33% off MSRP versus the current 30%. Whoopee. It is possible that it appeared because I had recently searched for it, however. |
Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
I'm just trying to figure it all out. I don't keep things in my cart, so maybe that is what everyone is actually referring to. I'm very diligent with my account(recommendations, WL, check GB daily, etc). I try and purchase everything out of the GB since that helps offset the tax I have to pay.
Case in point. I put Life (BD) on my wish list 2-3 weeks ago in an attempt to see if it popped up in my GB. Nope, not once. I removed it from my wish list a few days ago and voila, it's in my GB today. |
Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
Amazon's ever fluctuating prices are really getting out of control. I don't mind playing the game but I had to cancel two potential orders the last few days. The first one was on Saturday when I put Kung Fu Hustle Blu-ray in my cart at 8.99 with another title and needed to debate what the 3rd would be to tip it over $25. I go to lunch and come back 2 hours later and the price for Hustle jumped up to 16.49 so I pulled the plug on that order. Then, I started another order last night with Mannequin 1 & 2 at 7.99 and this morning it jumped up to 12.49. Now, I can understand the latter since it was overnight a lot easier than KFH that jumped up an hour or so later after it was in my cart. Yes, I know prime is the answer but maybe Amazon should slow it down a little or at least give a 6-hour window on a price when it is placed in your cart so you can actually shop with a little peace of mind and not worry that a price will jump up at any given moment.

Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
^ Totally agree. I missed the Star Trek (new movie) Blu-ray at $9.99, and all it did was generate ill will toward them from me. I am not more likely to order from them now, or more likely to order quicker. It is, however, more likely that I won't bother with a short-term deal because I'll just be wasting my time on the site before the deal disappears.
Amazon UK is, however, MUCH worse. Prices change there multiple times a day on lots of stuff. |
Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
I currently have 27 items in my cart, saved for later, to keep track of prices in the off chance that something will go low enough that I'll actually be coerced into buying it. Amazon is silly with their yo-yo prices, this is a perfect example:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER This DVD bounces between $17.99 and $19.99 about every other day, and has for the last 6 months. They never go lower than $17.99 which is why I haven't bought it (I won't pay that much for that DVD). Of course the ones I really want to drop never do, so they'll sit there until hell freezes over or I'll find them on Ebay for way cheaper and delete them from my cart...:p Amazon may have decent prices on a lot of stuff, DVDs included, but they never seem to want to lower prices on the DVDs that I really want...:gah: -kd5- |
Re: Amazon raised prices of EVERYTHING today
i was buying walnuts today, and they raised the price by almost a dollar. I have no doubt that Amazon is behind this.
