Is this still the case with best buy?

I can't remember but can you use the $5 coupon on new releases?

Are you talking about Reward Zone certificates or something else, like a manufacturer's coupon?

If it's $4.99 you can't use a RZ certificate, it's has to be above $5. Otherwise everything should be game, whether it's a new release or two years old.

Manufacturer's coupons are at case-by-case basis, they SHOULD take them but each week this sub-forum is littered with tales of denial by blue shirted managers and <strike>confused</strike> clueless cashiers.

According to Best Buy's program rules, you can use a $5 Reward Zone coupon on just about anything, except:

The following items are considered non-qualifying redemptions for which Reward Certificates may not be redeemed: prior purchases, purchase of Best Buy Gift Cards, purchases made for resale, payment on any Best Buy credit card, sales tax, state fees, shipping charges, delivery charges, service charges, restocking fees and commercial purchases. Other exclusions may apply.
However, some Best Buy employees will tell you that they can't be used on new releases, sale items, clearance items, ect...

My wife tried to buy a CD that was on sale using a RZ coupon and the clerk refused to accept it as payment towards the CD. He wouldn't even try to put it into the register.

Maybe they're getting it confused with the RZ 10% off (or whatever) coupons? They started adding stipulations to all of those coupons excluding new releases, sale items, etc. In fact, because of that I haven't used one in years.

I hope you socked that guy in his mou...I mean asked to speak to a manager. It's been so long since I've bought a new release but I've always been under the impression that you can use the RZ certificates towards just about anything.

Rewards certificates can be used on absolutely everything except for things that are for sale in the store.

As long as the item is over $5 before tax, the RZ coupon may be used.

Except during the first week of the month, and on Tuesdays.

Maybe I have this confused with something else though.
