Re: Problem with buyer on Amazon

Nothing I send goes out uninsured. ESPECIALLY USPS! When I ship UPS it's covered for $100 of insurance automatically.

In your case I'd have the buyer ship the items back, at their cost, then if it appears as though it was damaged in shipping, file a claim with the carrier.

Many of you support the buyer and that could be correct HOWEVER, when selling on Ebay I saw people getting buyers remorse, wanting their money back and sometimes wanting to keep the items as well.

I no longer sell on Ebay and if I ever do again the terms will not only be spelled out but insurance will be included in my shipping cost.

Be firm but be fair!

!

It isn't that hard to send the buyer a prepaid shipping label, then once you receive the item then issue a replacement or a refund.

Are there people out there that want stuff for free? YES!
Are there people out there that want to rip you off? YES!

However the vast majority are people that want the item they paid for in the condition that they are expecting, and If they say it was damaged when it arrived, chances are it probably was.

I'm in the camp of siding with the buyer -

Expecting to (1) receive the item you ordered and (2) in it's original, advertised condition should be up to the buyer. I'm glad that eBay finally removed the restriction of requiring buyers to buy insurance if they wanted it. If you ordered a stereo off of Amazon and it never showed (or arrived damaged), you wouldn't just 'accept it' because you didn't buy optional insurance.

I used to send stuff through the mail all the time - I had reports of it getting lost (international shipments) or broken (usually discs) and took responsibility - if I didn't buy insurance, I'd give them a refund or replace it for them. Granted, these were usually low-value items (<$20).

It shouldn't be up to the buyer to buy insurance - that should be up to the buyer (and they can factor it into the price if they want). In the end, the insurance is for you (seller) - if they don't get their item, they'll fight it/chargeback/dispute and likely win.

It's going to be hard to tell if the item was damaged in transit or with them. You might need to just accept it this time and be more careful in the future.

Tell the buyer to file an A-Z claim. Amazon usually covers stuff like this in seller's favor (depending on how long you've been selling there). See what they say.

Doesnt matter now bc the buyer never responded to my email about the serial number anyway, and it's been over a week.
