The Milford, CT location is now a $9.99 CD store. With a Backstage discount of 10% and the occasional $3 off coupon, you can get a CD for just $6.

damn, i'll have to go to the fye in arundel mills to see if they're running this. As i'm also a big cd guy, and the last time i was there, their sellection of metal albums was insane, from both the newer stuff and the older stuff, so this will clean out the wallet lol

Jersey here...
I went into the Paramus store last week to sell some used DVD's for store credit, and was told they are not buying any used merchandise until after the new year (so it'll be interesting to see if they accept them now)...
Also - I'm told the big FYE in Center City Philly (the old Tower Records) is now a $9.99 CD store. Can anyone confirm this? If not I'll be able to confirm it soon enough cos I'm gonna be in that area next week.

I went to an FYE in Manchester, CT - about an hour away from me, and it seemed that most of their CDs were $12.99, but some weren't, so I wasn't sure what's going on.

I hope that this experiment works for them; I'd certainly buy more CDs if they were under $10.
I went there today during lunch and picked up a CD. They said they're doing this promotion in 3-month intervals with this current one ending at the end of this month.Originally Posted by Lemmy

I think this is a great idea. If they do decide to make this a permanent thing it would be very wise, considering they'd be the cheapest option around.
Went to The Palisades Center (aka the Palisades Mall) in West Nyack, NY last weekend and they had all single-disc CDs for $9.99 or $12.99, not sure if it was a separate promotion from this one or if it's just a spin on the promo.

Has anyone seen any locations in the DFW area that are running this $9.99 test?

They just closed the CD World store in Totowa, NJ. They are in the process of closing the Wayne FYE in the Preakness Mall. They are running "test" stores in different locations (ie. the 9.99 cd stores, and now the Willowbrook Mall location does not sell used product of any kind) and I was just told at the Rt 4 store in Paramus that they will not buy back any used product, not even for store credit.
I don't expect them to be around much longer.

Okay, in the time since I posted this, FYE has closed 2 more stores near me (the Rt 17 FYE in Hackensack and the Rt 46 Coconuts in Totowa -which was a 9.99 cd store).
I would put the over under on chapter 11 for them at 6 months. Do not waste any $$ on a backstage pass.

I just sold some used dvds to the Rte 4 store in Paramus. Manager said they are not in immediate danger of closing. He said the stores that have closed were at the end of their leases and the company decided they were not profitable enough to renew. That said, looking at the full msrp they are still charging for dvd/blu-ray I am amazed they sell a thing. Even the used prices are not that good unless there is a sale.
