Hollywood Video Powerplay replacing MVP?

I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that the new Power Play program is replacing the MVP program. I think this stinks, the MVP I have is like 24.99 for 3 out at a time, and they say there are converting that to the Diamond Power Play for 24.99 where you get 25 points to use for rentals. Well a new release is 3 points. I rent about 9 movies there a week, so there is no way this program is a benefit to me. Otherwise you can upgrade to the Platium for 39.99 for unlimited points. So either I would have to rent less or pay more. What a joke. I am done with Hollywood Video, I will go cancel it some night this week. Anyone else get this letter?

I loved Hollywood's MVP program. I used to use it like mad. I stopped going there in September of 2007 when new releases became tougher to come by, even on release day. Canceled my membership and everything. News like this makes me glad that I did so.

I also used to love the MVP program. I used it a lot, and I mean excessively, for about a year. When I moved away from any Hollywood Video's, I got rid of it. Now, I'm glad I did. There's no way I'd pay $40 a month for unlimited renting.

Did games used to work on the MVP plan? The reason I'm liking the Powerplay model is the $5 game rentals.

I don't think they did, at least not with my plan. I never tried, so it's possible.

Yeah, this is retarded. They told us about it a few weeks ago and we just decided we're dropping it. It's not even remotely worth it if you rent more than like 5 movies a month.

See ya Hollywood.

I used it a lot years ago when it first came out. I'd usually pick up 3 movies a day at least, sometimes going back for more. Don't blame them for having to raise prices when they're making less and there's lots of people that really work the program.
