How do you cancel a claim on half.com?

I didn't receive an item I ordered on Half. When I contacted the seller, I didn't get a response within 2 days, so I filed a claim yesterday. I don't piss around. Well, I just got a reply from the seller that they're issuing a refund. So I'm wondering if there's some way to withdraw a claim or if the refund was issued in response to the claim being filed rather than the original refund request. Anyone else had this happen? I have yet to see a way to actually contact Half/ebay for anything. I'm still pissed that the 'Contact Seller' form kept telling me I had to wait until the 27th to report the item missing even on the 27th!!

I don't think you can. I tried to cancel a claim once by emailing them, since there was no way to do so online that I could find. A few days later, they sided with me on the claim and refunded my money. A few days after that, they finally responded to my email and said something like "We're glad the issue was resolved. Please keep the item as a gift from us." Based on the way it was phrased, it sounded like the seller got the money, I got the item for free, and that Half was fine with eating the cost of the item.

You might check to see if your seller lives in one of the areas that has been hit by bad weather. Here in Kentucky, we still have several hundred thousand people without power.

Otherwise, your impatience is not a valid reason for canceling a transaction. The reason you couldn't file the claim was that you tried to do it within the time period eBay allows a seller to have. You obviously wanted the item at the sale price at one point, and then changed your mind. If you want to shop like that, then buy from a retailer.

Yes, it is. I ordered on the 3rd. Half considers an item lost/missing after 14 days even though another part of the site says 12 is the max for media mail. In any case, the Contact Seller form has the option to report the item missing, but it won't let you select it until the 14 days are up. The time was up on the 27th, but the form still kept the option grayed with the note to wait until the 27th. It was the 27th!! So I contacted the seller simply using the "Other" option and waited the 48 hours for a response, as per the policy on the File Claim page. I filed a claim as soon as the 48 hours was up. It's not my problem the seller took an extra day to respond. They issued the refund, so problem solved. I can only assume Half will toss the claim when they check and see that the refund got issued after it was filed.

Because the seller has already refunded the purchase, it appears that this was a case of a slow acting seller, and I stand corrected on that point.

Still, the seller has x amount of days to even ship the item, and media can take quite a while. In the future, bear this in mind. Research your prospective sellers prior to placing a bid or a purchase order. Remember, caveat emptor!
