No idea, but this isn't a bargain at all. It belongs in the store forum.

It was announced that they are closing some stores. I didn't think the whole chain was closing, but maybe it is worse than they originally announced.

what makes you think this? I have pre orders for blu rays of donnie darko, napoleaon dynamite, office space, amadeus, and south park pending still - all with release dates of 02-03, 02-10, and 03-10...

I actually got someone to answer on their new phone menu maze yesterday, but I don't recall what button sequence allowed that.

I never understood why TWEC has multiple online storefronts (secondspin, wherehouse, suncoast, fye) fronting the same used stock, and they also sell stuff on amazonmarketplace.

I was at an FYE Saturday which happened to be their last day open. Everything left was 50% off and still was not a good deal on most stuff. Walked out with 1 CD.

So they are closing their stores ? I should go check closest one.

No wonder they're going out of business. Don't know who would buy anything there at those prices when the economy DIDN'T suck. Maybe at 50% off I might find a decent price on some Blu-rays.

RIP FYE.

Well stock close last week for under a dollar for the Transworld company.

If they are closing, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I told my friends several days ago that this place is going to close soon.

I hope not, but I did just use all of the remaining gift cards I had. Based on this article, it doesn't sound good:

EDIT: dx23, you beat me to it! I took extra time to read the article before I clicked the submit button... ;)

How were your pre-orders cancelled? If its from a store going out of business thats a whole different issue from TWEC "going under." I have seen no indication locally of any of the stores closing. I have several pre-orders outstanding for Feb and beyond and have had no such cancellation.

The closest FYE by me has a bunch of OOP stuff so I guess I could stop by for that.

I hope they don't shutdown, only because they own Second Spin and Wherehouse.

They could close one chain and keep the others. I worked for Suncoast when they were still part of The Musicland Group, and they closed all the Media Plays while keeping Suncoast, Musicland, and Sam Goody open.

...of course, years later they all went to hell, with the vast majority of all chains closing, so maybe this isn't a great example. :)

As did I. I'm not encouraged by that news at all, and I didn't want to get caught with around $60 i couldn't use.

The FYE in my city closed a while back. I somehow managed to completely miss any news regarding it.

Those are the only 2 stores I want this company to keep open.

Jeez, how the heck did you end up with so much store credit at FYE?

For that matter, did you spend it just because you were afraid they might go under?

If they do, will they not honor their store credit? I know Circuit City is. Anyway, just wondering. Enjoy your games!

OP, why is this posted here? Explain yourself. What is the bargain?

Re: Fye cancelling february 2009 pre-orders

I have no problem with it posted here. This is could very well become bargin related if they're closing shops.

I only read a few forums, if I checked everyone - the locales I haunt; I would get nothing done. So this post helps me. Good.

There used to be a Suncoast at my local mall. I rarely did shopping there, mostly it was a stepping point for inspiration = Amazon/Ebay. But I did like finding exclusives I wanted. *nods*

Many gift cards for Christmas, and from my birthday last year. They just kinda accumulated... And YES, I used them for fear they might go under. I didn't know about CC, but KB Toys did not honor their gift cards after they started their store closing sale. Better safe than sorry. And I've been thinking about getting a PS3 for a while now anyway. Got it for 10% off for being a Backstage Pass member...

Apparently March pre-orders are still good?

You all speculate and jump ship very fast. For the moment FYE isn't going anywhere.
