Where to exchange/return item not sold in stores?

At my office Christmas party recently I won a raffle for an RCA EZ210 Digital Camcorder. This is something I have absolutely no use for (the video capabilities of a standard digital camera are more than enough for me).

I was considering exchanging this at a store, however I cannot find one which sells the item in their physical stores (both walmart and circuit city sell it online). Any suggestion on how I can turn this thing around into an item I'd use short of actually selling it?

Most people here don't believe in exchanging something at a store where the item was NOT purchased. You'd probably do better listing it on craigslist or ebay and take the cash.

Can you get the receipt for it from your work? If you want, you can make up some BS like "it's not working right, and I want to exchange it."

Whoever put it in the raffle probably had no use for it as well and didn't know what to do with it either.

I agree. If anyone is going to take something you didn't buy from their store, it's Walmart. I've taken back things I got on eBay and such, although I've always only gotten store credit instead of a refund w/o a receipt.

How does it work if the item is something they've never carried?

They'll probably hand it back to you and continue to not carry it. You should check into it and see if they even sell the product before trying to take it back to them.

Hopefully, they'll realize he's trying to scam them and throw his ass in jail!
