Opinion on Chinese Movie DVD Wholesaler Requested
I have access to a large, established, legitimate (I think) Chinese wholesale DVD movie distributor who will sell in limited quantities. They do this because they expect that most people buying from them will want samples before buying in bulk quantities. They sell their limited quantities at the same price as their bulk orders. I have seen several of their DVD's along with it's packaging and it is indistinguishable from what the local stores are selling.
I am willing to order a few samples, but before I do, I would like to get experiences/opinions that others had/have with overseas sellers.
Are these DVD's pirated copies? How can I determine if they are?
Are the DVD's that are sold locally manufactured in China (like everything else that is sold in the USA)?
If so, could they be selling the same legitimate DVD's that they manufacture for the legitimate US market?
What pitfalls could await me if I start buying DVD's from them?
Everyone's experience/opinion is appreciated. Thanks.

Well, China is the #1 seller of pirated US media. Buy a few samples, then post pics of them here.

They may look like exact copies but are probably pirated if they come from China.Easy way to tell is if you have a computer & have a dvd player of course.Download nero cd/dvd speed & click on disc information,if it's authentic it's region 1 but more than likely it'll say Region 0....meaning pirated. If your talking about current titles sold in the U.S.
Remember reading an article on the net about chinese dvd factories, they're retail by day & pirates by night.I've also noticed that a lot of dvds are being produced in Mexico.

If they're being sold for less than 75%-or-so of the MSRP, they're not legitimate. There's not a lot of money in retailing DVD's.

The OP is vague and provides no examples or company name. Are you speaking of Mainland China or Hong Kong, presumably not Taiwan?
Warner Bros has initiated a VoD service recently in China. They, and 20th Century Fox have joint ventures with Chinese companies to combat piracy. Typically, their DVDs cost only a few dollars, just slightly above bootleg prices but offering better quality.
One article that I could find handily:

If by chance you're referring to Buyoyo/Layoyo/DVDShelf, they are a legit HK company and offer B2B sales.

Apparently, the Chinese are wary of buying American... debt, after buying $1T worth.
