Stores Closing

It seems there are lots of stores that are closing due to the "recession" and the fact that people are not shopping. If you have any "gift cards" from these stores, make sure you use them, or you will lose them !

Watch those store money cards and gift cards.. and credit slips! Stores that informed the Security Exchange of closing plans between October 2008 and January 2009.

P.S. I cannot attest to the accuracy of this list so you will have to determine that yourselves. As well as to which locations are affected.

That posted list doesn't match up very well with the list in that link.

I don't know where the OP got his info. That link is the closest I could come to finding those stores on a list. I could find no mention anywhere of Movie Gallery closing all of their stores.

The story linked above says this about Movie Gallery: Movie Gallery closed 160 stores as part of reorganization plan to exit bankruptcy. I think the closings are done, unless more are coming.....

Those stores are closing because of 4 things:

1-Economic Recession
2- Wal-Mart
3- Many of them sold overpriced stuff
4- Imbecile CEOs

Wal-Mart sadly has replaced a lot of this stores and as long as the government protects them, they'll continue bullying other businesses to the ground. There is also the CEO greediness and corporate stupidity that comes along and bring stores like Circuit City to bankruptcy. As long as there is no corporate accountability, stores like CC are going under.

it's like "George Carlin" said, though, our country is just 1 big cesspool of shopping malls. I mean, do we really need that many stores??? Also, has anyone thought that there could be a ceiling to the economy???

lake100 11-20-08 09:47 PM

My bad....i did not mean, "has anyone thought that there could be a ceiling to the economy???" I worded it wrong. What i meant to say, could there be a ceiling to retail growth??? Better:)
