Best Buy - Received Shipping Notice Followed By Backorder Notice

This is a weird one for me. Back on August 24th I preordered the Office Season 4 Gift Set from Best Buy. September 1st, right before I went to sleep I get a notice that my order was backordered. I was a bit pissed because I figured preordering was sort of like reserving a copy, but I just went to sleep and planned to deal with it in the morning.

The next day I get an email that says this:

"Dear Best Buy Customer,

Thank you for your recent The Office 4th Season DVD pre-order on BestBuy.com.

Unfortunately there was a delay in receiving the DVD from our procurement partner and your order shipped today.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Because you are a valued customer, we will be crediting your credit card (or Gift Card) for the shipping charges plus any applicable shipping taxes. The credit should appear on your bank statement within your current or next billing cycle.

Additionally, we would like to offer you a $5 Digital Coupon* toward a future purchase at www.BestBuy.com.
"



But then today I receive an email that says:

"Dear Christopher:

The item listed below is still not yet available to be shipped. We will notify you as soon as the item becomes available.

If you would like discuss other possibilities for fulfilling your order, please call us at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289), and a Customer Care representative will gladly assist you. Please have your order number handy.

Your options may include:

* Finding a store in your area with your item in stock
* Ordering a similar in-stock item that meets your needs
* Cancelling your current order

We apologize for the inconvenience. If we do not hear from you before we ship your item, we will assume that you accept this delay.

Huh? I sent them an email asking what the hell exactly was going on but I haven't heard back yet. Has anyone encountered a shipping notice followed by a backorder notice 5 days later? Am I reading the first email wrong? It says "your order shipped today", right? I had a charge pending on my checking account last time I checked (a day or two after the "shipping" notice) but then today there isn't a charge that I see. So I'm assuming the shipping email was an error.

This is pretty weird, I'll wait until the mail comes tomorrow, but if nothing shows up I'll just have to go and buy it somewhere else I guess.
