If it says Usually Ships in 4-6 Weeks on Amazon.com Does That Usually Mean it's OOP?

I was just curious cause I believe that I've seen it say that on there before for stuff like the Oldboy Tin around the time it went out of print. There's a big box set on there that I want now, but I'm a bit leary about purchasing it, even though they've got the best price on it now, cause it says "Ships in 4-6 Weeks", and I don't want to go thru the trouble of ordering it and then waiting that long only to have the order canceled.

Anybody have any experience with this or suggestions to really confirm if it's really in stock?

I've had it say something similar, and it shipped two days later.

Yep, me too. And vice-versa, where ship in two days is really 4 weeks.

If it's something that you know is OOP and impossible to find, you'll probably do better not to bother with it. But, if other people have it in stock and it's still around, you might as well try for it.

I also agree, as I have had similar experiences. I was shocked too, expecting to have to wait, hope and pray that I would get it.

I can't recall what it was exactly, but I had ordered something that said that one time from amazon.com and they kept on sending me emails asking me to approve to extend the shipping time because they hadn't gotten the product in yet. It was kind of expensive so I didn't mind...actually I was counting them on charging me for it a little later. I eventually got it but it was a bit more than 4-6 weeks.

I recently ordered another book from them that's a hardcover collection and a bit expensive knowing I will have money for it in July when it's supposed to ship. I hope it doesn't ship in 2 days!

I usually avoid 4-6 week shipping for that reason and look elsewhere if it's something I really want. I guess I never chanced it enough times to find anything that ships in 2 days instead.

I usually go through with it. They don't charge until it ships anyway.

Thanks for all the posts guys. I think I just might chance it and see how it goes. Wish me luck.

I think you are right in chancing it, especially if you do not need it right away and can wait. You can always cancel if you buy it elsewhere, assuming it is not in "processing."

Good Luck!

Any reason you don't name the set? This group might know whether it's OOP or not.
