that's weird.correct me if iam wrong but HBO didn't release this set and apparently some loser uploaded a pic of a bootleg boxset and amazon.com didn't have a pic for that so they uploaded his.BUT then again if you scroll down you can read some guy is claiming that he got this set from amazon! WTF?!

Here is another one. Obviously a boot but their using a pic of the R3 Korean version of the Protector/Tom Yum Goong on the page.

Amazon can't afford selling bootlegs. It will be very expensive and damaging for any publicly traded company like amazon. There are always bad elements when you give control to customers like this. That happens in forums like this as well. Of course, there is other side of forums/companies manipulated by administrators/management as well.

I've actually spotted a few bootleg DVDs on Amazon recently - of movies that aren't out on DVD at all. This OZ one isn't the first and only!

LOTS of bootlegs on amazon with legitimate listings lately. I don't know what they're doing.

HBO didn't release it as pictured, but they did release a set of all 6 seasons, basically the individual season sets shrinkwrapped together. That's the version you'll get if you order directly from Amazon. Other online retailers sell the set as well, with the same MSRP that Amazon lists.

I wouldn't put much credence into the person who claims they got a boot "from" Amazon. Most likely the person ordered via Amazon's marketplace and got the set from a seller. A lot of people confuse ordering through Amazon as ordering "from" Amazon.

With Oz, it's a case of a seller using a legitimate listing for the selling of a bootleg. However, with the Tom Yum Goong DVD, it looks like a seller created their own listing to sell a bootleg. Amazon allows power sellers to create listings for titles Amazon doesn't sell itself. This is good for things like long OOP books or imports, but can be exploited for bootlegs. Basically, if the item looks suspect and you can't get it directly from Amazon, I'd investigate further.

^^^ what he said, if you are buying it from amazon or one of their affiliates(target, for example) through amazon, then you are fine. If you are buying from amazon marketplace, from an individual selling on amazon, buyer beware. I imagine these sellers sell loads and loads of bootleg cds, dvds, and books(yes it is very possible to have a book that is not legit). Basically it is as bad as ebay in that sense

I wouldn't say its as bad as ebay. The majority of sellers are legit, and Amazon offers their guarantee on any marketplace item, so the buyer usually isn't stiffed without recourse like what can happen on ebay. But you're never going to get rid of all of the bootlegs.

I've seen boots there as well--Real Ghostbusters (before the 2005 releases).

The listing states this:

Availability: In Stock. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

This means it's from Amazon.com directly and not through a Marketplace seller.

Amazon.com also has an asian boot of "Bugsy Malone" for sell which Netflix actually is renting to customers although the description states it's a domestic special edition.

Again, HBO did release an official 6 season DVD set, other retailers are selling it. HBO apparently didn't supply a picture though, which has left the listing pictureless at most sites. When a bootlegger uploaded his bootleg set to Amazon, Amazon automatically pegged the first pic uploaded as the one to show everyone.

In other words, if you order directly from Amazon, what you see on the page is not what you're gonna get.

The DVD is apparently supposed to be R3, but is R0. I have another Panorama release that's the same way. Judging by the number of legitimate US retailers that sell the import, it must've somehow entered a US distributor's catalog, with the online stores accepting it as a legitimate release since it came from a known distributor.
