help with paypal!

so this is my first time using paypal with ebay. i won 2 auctions from the same guy. i'm attempting to pay him. I have money already in my account that I got from doing surveydirect. my total is $4.30. plenty of money in account to pay for it. but paypal is telling me that i have to add my bank account to lift the spending limit hold that i have. i'm waiting for them to confirm my account and it is saying that it will take 2-3 days. but since i already have money in my account why do i need to add my bank account?

i'm really confused and any help would be grateful since i want to pay for this auction asap. thanks!!!!!

If you don't have a bank account listed then there is a maximum spending limit that they allow you. Have you used your PayPal for things other than E-Bay? If so, you have reached the limit that they will allow before "unlocking" it with a bank account. Of course you could always create another PayPal account....
