eBay seller not responding, ideas?

I purchased an item off of eBay (ended on the 5th) which I paid for within a day of the closing via PayPal. Aside from the automated email from eBay about the auction closing I haven't heard anything about it since. I'm not sure that I've been shafted (the guy is 95% and over 500), but I'm a little angry as it was intended to be a present for mother's day. I've emailed the address attached to PayPal as well as sent a message through eBay. Is there anything else I can do?

dablueguy 05-12-06 02:55 AM

Not yet. He has 10 days from the end of the auction to get the item to you. At that point you can file a claim with PayPal. That usually gets their attention. I would warn him though before you do that as sometimes people don't check their e-mail regularly.

There is a place on Ebay where you can request from Ebay the seller personal info including their phone number. It will be delivered to you in a email...Good luck!

dadaluholla 05-12-06 10:07 AM

So if it ended on the 5th, and you paid within a day, that means there is a good chance he wouldn't even get it in the mail until Monday the 8th, which doesn't allow much time for it to get there before Mother's Day (unless it was sent via a 2-3 day service, which you should have checked with him on before buying).

Yeah it was supposed to be shipped priority.

Contact is supposed to be within 3 days..Never heard the ten day thing..
Could be true just never heard that..

Don't mean to be rude, but take the ebay and paypal questions elsewhere... preferably ebay and paypal....

Well, when you start posting inappropriate questions in inappropriate forums, you are going to feel attacked when someone calls you on it... get over it.

Maybe you can tell us what was inappropriate?

In THIS case, whining about an ebay transaction in a forum labeled STORE forum. It doesn't belong.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 05-13-06 09:15 AM

yeah this thread should be moved to the ebay forum

Or it should go to the whining forum, along with Heathen posts of this being a STORE forum, not an EBAY page. ;)

It is comforting to know that we have volunteer thread monitors like Heathen here at DVDTalk. I salute you sir or madam and join you in your volunteer duties.

Love,

You have to give the seller a couple of days to send out. Not everyone can get to the post office whenever they want. A few days to send out after payment is recieved should be given. When I've sold items, if the payment gets there Sat-Tues, I'll make a trip the the post office (which hours make it cut close to work time). But if payment gets here Wed-Friday, it won't be until Saturday until it get sent.

Now if it has been a few weeks, then it is the time to complain.

They also have no control of the speed of the post office. It might be sent priority but it is not a guarantee to be there in 2-3 days.

Let's get back on topic... Heathen, you were pwned, your turn!

This thread needs to be moved or killed... simple as that.

If it really needed to X would've done it. I think you needed something to whine about that day, and now you're stuck whining about it. You can take it back. No one will hold it against you.

and update: I got his personal information, called him, and he gave me the run around. Turns out he didn't have as many as he listed. What a shmo.

Is there an Ebay discussion section at DVD Talk I am not aware of? -confused-

If not, what's so seriously wrong with discussing the topic here? Heathen? Lunatikk? :hscratch:

[insert huge EYEROLL here]

This is the STORE forum, and therefore should be limited to STORE releated content... Not WHINY EBAY Forum, or Punk'd By PayPal Forum. If you have a problem with either of those, either seek them out directly or some other forum that gives a damn.

Enough everybody..

bdots48 05-15-06 10:00 AM

I see no problem talking in the Store Forum (or whining) about EBay or Paypal, for that matter - EBay is a store in effect. Can't we try to be a little helpful to a fellow DVD Talker?

Heathen 05-15-06 10:24 AM

1. Ebay is NOT a store.
2. There is PLENTY of information to be had on their own sites (paypal & ebay) about how to deal with transactions. Use them.
3. There are also PLENTY of other sites dedicated to helping users with ebay problems or reporting various related issues and users. This is not one of them.
4. Keep forum content to content that is relevant.
