What a stupid thing to steal and get busted for. What does anyone want with used rental dvds that are probably worth under $10 each?

You wouldn't believe what gets stolen in the post office. In the big processing plants, it is impossible to watch everything, so a ton of cards get slit open for money, gift cards, etc. I work for the post office, and at 50% of the people I work with would have been fired a dozen times over at any other job I ever had. Since you can't seem to get fired in the service, the dregs pull the whole organization down.

A 24-year-old Loveland woman who worked as a postal carrier is accused of stealing more than 1,250 Netflix and Blockbuster DVDs from the mail in the Lyons area
1250 X $10 = $12,500 not chump change

You know, I wondered about this. This is the second time I've seen a post about Mail Carrier theft (the other one was about a guy who was just too lazy to deliver packages, so just brought them home), and both times the postman was just suspended. Why not fired? I don't want these guys ever delivering mail again!

The guy who didn't deliver was in Canada, not the USPS I believe.

Why not arrested? It's called theft and they should go to jail!

With the union, you can't fire people. Many years ago a worker in an office about 15 minutes from mine killed his supervisor and then himself. This person was disturbed, everyone knew it. He was a terrible worker and constantly threatened and harrassed people. The union would not let him get fired, they were in fact appealing a write up they had given him the day he murdered. I work with a guy just like him, and no one would be surprised if he snapped, but every year when he has at least 1 major incident, he gets to keep his job.

I was one of the people who made the complaint to the postal inspectors in this case. I was very surprised when a postal inspector called me about my missing the dvds in the mail. I've since moved to another zipcode but Im glad they prosecuted and fired those people.
