help needed - half.com
hi, i am not sure what to do, i sold a brand new sealed item at half.com- law and order, SVU season 5 and supposedly it got damaged in the mail and one of the 4 disk set does not play and is scratched, am i suppose to give complete refund, the item was sent on the 27 of june, and the person contacted me today, i have never had a problem like this before, she has not asked for a refund but told me one of the disks does not play, and that it was a gift, any help would be appreciated, . I am pretty anal about my ratings so should i just tell her to keep the set and give her a complete refund, thanks
This is what the person wrote Reason: The item was damaged when it arrived. Comment/Question: Disc 1 of SVU Season 5 is badly scratched and did load the first time we tried to watch it, then it froze and will not load at all now. The set arrived in shink wrap as promised. The other discs do not appear to be scratched, but I have not had time to watch them yet. This set was a birthday gift. Please respond! Sharon Green |
Hi,
Normally with half.com you can work it out with the buyer. If they want a complete refund then they must return the item or you can give a lesser refund for just the defective disc. Sometimes then can just go to a store in the area and do a return and swap without the receipt. I would not give a complete refund and let them keep the item. DG |
I'd say you can either:
a) give a complete refund if they ship it back to you b) refund them shipping costs if they return it, and you return it to wherever you got it c) send them receipt and have them return for a new copy (if possible) d) have them go to Walmart maybe and see if they can trade in their defective copy |
thanks guys, i bought it sometime early last year and it was just sitting on my shelf, unopened, so i cannot send her the receipt or take it back to CC, i guess i'll just have her send it back to me

I've had people try to pull this one on me. If it's a legitimate problem, all you have to do is say "Send it back to me and I'll credit you as soon as I get it." It's the same procedure all the major etailers follow. If you never get it, you never credit. I've had a couple people just do that, fishing for a free DVD.
Because they say it's unplayable yet claim it was a birthday present... that raised flags of doubt in my mind. |
