Am I the only one who thinks sending flowers by FedEx/UPS is tacky? It's like, "Gee! I got flowers! In a dirty brown cardboard box!"

1-800 FLOWERS indeed is a very poor company to buy flowers from. I bought some flowers with a glass vase for a friend whose grandmother had passed away and they shipped the flowers out 2 days late and the glass vase was shattered. After much hassling, they refunded my money. Stay away from this company.

Why do people buy flowers to show some sign of affection? Why can't they just say "I love you" and be done with it? You guys are crazy to spend $100 on flowers...when you could spend that money on DVDs!

Because women love to get flowers. No matter how much they complain about hating Valentine's Day, what they are really saying is they hate not being appreciated on a day when all of their friends are.
As far as the money spent, it has more to do with being in your means. If $100 isn't much for your leading lady, then go for it. If it's too much, just buy one flower. I've never once had a girl say I shouldn't have given her flowers.

My racquetball partner co-owns a flower shop and said that they got ~ 2K orders via 1800flowers for 2/14. They were overwhelmed but were able to deliver 1500 of those orders and had to ask for forgiveness on the other 500. He said they offered consideration discounts to the 500 and out of those, only 50 refused.

So what happens if you send flowers and the recipient isn't home?

a couple of years ago a ordred flowers for my girlfriend for valentine's day from 1800 flowers. the day has gone by and i'm wondering why she hasn't called to thank me for delivering flowers to her at work. when i got home they were never delivered and i called 1800 flowers and they had no explanation to why they were not delivered. they apologized and she got them a couple days later. i don't think my girlfriend every really believed that i had really ordered the flowers for valentine's day(which i did!) and to this day believes i forgot and came up with some story to cover me forgetting.

thanks alot 1800 flowers.

They plant them in your yard. Kind of weird, but what choice do they have?
