For the few months I have been a Blockbuster Online member, I have averaged 3/week since I watch a movie the day it arrives and mail it the next. But these past 2 weeks I have only received 3 dvds. I currently have the last one in the mail back to them but after receiving back the first 2, they have none one the way to me. At this rate I will average only 6 for the month of 2/21 - 3/21 (plus the 2 in-store). That is terrible.
My Queue currently has 25 dvds in it which break down as follows: Available Now - 8 Short Wait - 8 Long Wait - 3 Very Long Wait - 1 Coming Soon - 5 I am at the point now where it's taking so long for them to arrive that I am dropping the dvd back in the mail one day, then reporting it 'Returned but has not yet cleared my queue' the following night. I want to be the limiting factor in this equation and 3/week is all I actually watch. Also I have requested that they carry the Daredevil Director's Cut and Two Brothers (WS) three times now and still nothing. It wouldn't be a big deal if at least 1 of the 3 local stores carried it for rental. If this continues, I may need to consider going back to Netflix despite the price differential. |
For me, Blockbuster has recently been shipping catalog titles lower in my que than new titles that are listed as available (including movies and tv sets).

Well, I love the USPS feature - it is a big time saver. I dropped off a movie at USPS at 3PM yesterday, and this morning when I woke up, I already had a shipment notice for my next DVD. Awesome!!
|
I returned 3 DVDs on Friday, Feb 25th, and I am STILL WAITING over one week later to receive a new disc. I have 15 DVDs (mostly older catalog titles) in my queue and my "DVDs out" queue is empty (LOL). I got an email saying they had shipped one DVD on March 4th but it has yet to arrive.
Very, very slow. At this rate I will be lucky to get 3 DVDs every 2 weeks so I am canceling and going back to Netflix. At least Netflix managed to get me 3 discs a week on average (though they lie about shipped dates and such). Ah well.... |
Are the titles in your queue 'Avail' or on a wait status?
You'd think as much of the B&M market BBV has cornered, they'd be able to study the market and be able to invest in the disks they need. I dropped something in my mailbox on Thursday, and it hasn't been accepted yet [or scanned]. I think I sent this one back to PA instead of NC, so that might make a difference, but still, it is disappointing. And even though I was billed on 3/02, I don't have my new e-coupons yet. One of the reasons I went with BBO was that "Well, even if they're a little slower than NF [ha!], the e-coupons are worth up to 14 bucks [I usually rent games from the B&M, not dvds.]" Daily update: Short Wait: 43/127 Long Wait: 10/127 Very Long Wait: 9/127 Available Now: 63/127 -- Less than 50%! Okay, this is sad. Even taking the Coming Soon out of the equation, it's still 63/125, which is a hair over 50%. Coming Soon: 2/127. I have also noticed that for some reason, changing the order of things in my queue works better with IE than Firefox. I've got a chunk of titles that are a TV season, and they are 'together', so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Looks like I may need to go back to keeping my Excel spreadsheet to see how badly I'm being screwed. |
Still averaging about a buck/rental with BB after 2.5 months...so no complaints.
I do agree about the wait status on my queue, but as long as there's something new in the mail every couple of days, I'm not too annoyed. |
They just added Houston as a shipping center, so maybe it'll speed up for me now, but they've been quick to check in a title, but then nothing shows up to ship for a day or so.
In the one month I've been a member I've had THREE screw-ups. First, I got an email confirming receipt of a title that never reached me (envelope ripped open somehow, leaving only their return address), and TWO wrong discs in the right envelope issues (in a row!!). I haven't had that many incidents like this from Netflix in the course of 3 years!! |

Maybe you should NOT put me on hold, but instead pick up your cell phone and put it up to your left ear, keep me on your right ear and as I talk, the person on the other end of the cell phone will pick it up as it travels through your hollow head." He didn't seem to like that and hung up on me. Brian I got a free month after calmly explaining my problems. I will still drop them if the service doesn't improve greatly, but at least I will have seen a good number of titles that Netflix doesn't carry. |
That's true--in my case, I've noticed that because the first 4 titles in my queue are on Wait status, so I guess they're 'looking' for them, then moving down the list. That happened occasionally--not realy often--with Netflix, so it's a reasonable assumption; of course, the problem wouldn't be that bad if so many titles weren't in Wait status.
Did your queue have stuff in 'Wait' at the top? Now, the envelope issues--that's bad. In four+ years at NF, I had one totally wrong disk arrive, one take a month to get there, and one shattered. Everything else was at least playable. And like you said, I'm all for giving feedback/complaining if the service/product is shoddy, but how you do it can make a big difference, and there's rarely a reason to be rude/offensive/insulting to the clerk/rep. Of course, there's also rarely a reason for them to hang up on a customer..... |
I had 15 discs in my queue, mostly all showing as available, my "DVDs out" queue was empty and I waited one week two days to receive a disc. So for that particular two week period I received a grand total of four DVDs. Unacceptable and I will be canceling on the 10th when my month's subscription is up.

I officially quit my BBV rental membership tonight but they did try to coax me into staying at a slightly cheaper rate for 3 months. Cut and pasted the offer below for anyone interested. I guess if you are happy with the service you could cancel and rejoin to get the cheaper offer for 3 months.
