Best Buy Price Match Policy
 

I am thinking about buying a printer this weekend. Both Circuit City and CompUSA are offering a $40 Gift Card with the purchase of this printer. Will Best Buy match this in any way? I prefer to buy at Best Buy since it is closer and I'll get Reward Zone points.

If I recall, I had a similar situation and it resulted in me getting a gift card thanks to the PM. But, I would say it would depend on the store. If it were me, I would try anyways because you never know.

I don't want to hijack this thread but rather than start a new one I just wanted people to know there appears to be no limit on how many times you PM one item or several items. I bought Madden 2005 for the PS2 for $29.99 at Best Buy. A week later Target had it on sale for $24.88 and I PM'd at Best Buy and got 110% the difference. Today Wal-mart had the game for $19 and I again went to Best Buy to PM and received 110% of the difference.

Does Best Buy pricematch Amazon? I want to buy a dvd recorder w/a hard drive, and the price difference is $150.

I wouldn't mind buying straight from Amazon, but I have something to return at BestBuy (a dvd recorder that I had not opened yet), that I'd like to use as credit towards it.

no, they don't PM internet retailers. I suppose that you could get a mgr whose willing to work you but the odds are definitely against you.

Well, good news. Of course, YMMV, but I called my Best Buy and pressed the extension to customer service. I spoke with someone there, asking if I could speak to a manager regarding pricematching something. She asked what it was. I told her it was a dvd recorder w/a harddrive. However, it was from Amazon.com. She replied "We're pricematching everything today." She said it without hesitating, so I'm not sure if they're doing this for the holiday season, or if this is standard at my BestBuy. (I've never pricematched anything in my life, be it a CD, DVD or a big electronic item.) I asked her what I would need for this. She told me to just print out the page, and make sure that today's date is clearly visible, also.

Since Amazon.com had listed the Panasonic DMR-E85HPS as a "click here to show price in your shopping cart", I printed that page since it shows the product details, and the -my shopping cart- page that displayed the price.

I went to the store, and didn't have a problem. I used my 10% preferred customer coupon on top of that. I didn't think they would let me, but I asked. And I got it. Was very pleased with the whole transaction. Actually, I was supposed to get 12% off, for being a Reward Zone member, but since everything else went so smoothly, who am I to cry over an extra 2%?

So... first Best Buy pricematching experience (first pricematching experience overall, actually) was a great one.

I'm absolutely shocked by this.

1) They pricematched an Internet Retailer
2) They let you use a coupon on top of the PM

Yeah, well since I've never pricematched before, I called on the phone to avoid the hassle of getting rejected there.

I called as soon as I woke up (which on the weekends is around noon). Believe me, bro, I probably never got showered and dressed so quickly in my life, as soon as I found out I could pricematch Amazon.

I don't think she was doing something she wasn't supposed to, because, for one, I talked to someone who's name was different than the actual person who did this for me. (I didn't have to say "Well, I talked to so and so, and she said I can do this.) Secondly, this person who was doing it, asked someone else (who wasn't the person who helped me over the phone) about how to do this with the coupon attached to it.

Anyway, I was happy. And I'll try again and see if they can ever pricematch something else from Amazon. For some reason, I don't think they would pricematch, say, BobsShackofBargains.Com. Maybe because it's Amazon -- a reputable online retailer that everyone knows about.

Anyway, if I try to pricematch Amazon, or another reputable online retailer, I'll post it here. I would suggest if someone wants to pricematch Amazon -- most likely a high-priced item -- give Best Buy a call and see if they can pricematch for you. It's worth a shot, and you don't waste too much time by calling, rather than driving there.

Hey guys, do you know if Best Buy price matches on something you've already bought?
I bought Half Life 2 for 55 Bucks yesterday, but as it turns out, Circuit City has it for 39.99 in its ad this week. It's not opened, so will they return it (at the very least).

I'm hoping they'd refund the difference.

Just bring your receipt and the current competitor's ad. They would do a 110% PM.

Well to add an update to my "price matching" experience, I was not able to pricematch an internet retailer's price for a sony 7.2 mp digital camera. I told them I was able to do pricematch Amazon over a couple of weeks ago without any problems. The sale rep went to go talk to the manager and came back telling me that they were definitely not allowed to do that -- just local competition.

I guess I got lucky with my dvd recorder w/hardrive a couple of weeks ago when I was able to do it.
