You are receiving this email because you added unlimited Blu-ray access to your account for $1 a month. The number of Blu-ray titles has increased significantly and will continue to do so. As we buy more, you are able to choose from a rapidly expanding selection of Blu-ray titles. And as you've probably heard, Blu-ray discs are substantially more expensive than standard definition DVDs.
As a result, the monthly charge for Blu-ray access is increasing for most plans and will now vary by plan. The charge for monthly Blu-ray access on your 3 DVDs at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will increase from $1 a month to $4 a month. The price of your 3 DVDs at-a-time (Unlimited) plan is not changing and remains at $16.99 a month.

The new charge for Blu-ray access will be automatically added to your next billing statement on or after April 27, 2009 and will be referenced in your Membership Terms and Details.

If you wish to continue unlimited Blu-ray access for $4 a month, you don't need to do anything. If not, you can remove Blu-ray access anytime by visiting Your Account.

If you have questions about this change or need any assistance, please call us anytime at 1-888-923-0898.

In B&Ms they're sure as hell substantially more expensive.

Fucking Netflix. I just rejoined and they drive me away again. $4 extra for blu access is bullshit. There just aren't that many...

So cancel the BD part. That is what I'm going to do.

Got the same email. What a joke. BBonline never used to charge more for Blu-Ray service (I ended that subscription about 6 months ago so that may have changed). I may have to cancel my BD subscript now or cut down to 2 out at time to cover part of the difference. Eff you Netflix.

There's no way in hell I'm paying an extra $4 a month just for 3-at-a-time blu. I'm either going to reduce my numbers or drop the service all together and only rent the DVDs I really want to see through a machine service.

I had my account on hold. It made my decision to go ahead and cancel this afternoon a no-brainer.

I dropped the Blu-Ray access.

Half of the discs I've been getting have been cracked or unplayable anyway.

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

I haven't had much of a problem with cracked discs, and I generally get the ones that I want. I don't have to have movies the week they come out, so I'm about a year behind on new releases.

However, I don't have much desire to pay that much more. I'll just go back to strictly DVDs.

$4 a month? I don't think so. As if Netflix doesn't make enough money per quarter. I dropped my Blu-Ray plan. I'll simply watch the DVD, and read reviews to find out if the Blu-Ray is worthy of the purchase.

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

Considering I only had 1 BluRay in my queue (w/ only 2 others having the option -- out of 130+ titles) the $4 wasn't worth it to me so I dropped that option as well. I wonder if this is going to backfire on them?

Just got the email also -

The charge for monthly Blu-ray access on your 5 DVDs at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will increase from $1 a month to $6 a month.

Freaking $6.00.

I closed my account too due to the price hike for Blu-Ray, plus the bad condition most discs are in. They got too greedy.

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

My netfilx service has been the best its been the past month. I love seeing all the people canceling their netflix cause of the price hike. Go to your local video store and pay $5 for each blu-ray title lol. I know you wont have problems finding a copy since it appears no one ever rents them in the rental stores Ive been in.
Netflix was sucking for some of January and into Feb for me. I had many new releases I wouldnt get. But lately Ive been getting on average about 6 new releases each week. Not bad at all for $!8 a month. I'd hate to see how much it would cost at a video store.

This! I have seen a substantial increase in the quality of Netflix lately. I am extremely happy. I don't know what changed but my service has been EXCELLENT!

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

My Netflix has been great. I don't do Blu Ray, but I pay what? $12 a month for 2-at-a-time and watch more than enough movies in a month to make that waaaay cheaper than renting. Plus the turn-around time has been excellent ever since I rejoined a few months ago.

My turnaround has been excellent with Netflix, now if Gamefly could get with the program I would be set. That's another story all together.

I suspect hell is going to freeze over first. I'd be happy if gamefly would get their act together another to send me new releases on release day when I have a game due to me. I think the new Riddick is the only the second time since the beginning of the year that I've actually gotten the new release, out of maybe a dozen or so chances.

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

For some reason, Netflix is sending me an extra DVD at no extra cost (as far as I can tell). I'm not complaining, but it's a little strange.

It's probably because the movie at the top of your queue wasn't available locally. It's something they started doing maybe a month or two ago. It's covered either in this thread or in one of the Netflix threads here in the forum.
