I've been trying to spend money with them for the past half hour, but right now their site is freakin unusable.

What is the damn problem over there?!

I'll be in the $300-400 range by the end of the sale this weekend...more than I intended to spend (naturally), but less than I spent during their 20% sale last year.

My final total was $293. I pretty much cleared my want list and mostly only have pre-orders left on my want list now.

3 orders totaling 131.20

55.66 Friends Orders (reimbursment coming)
75.54 My DVD's

Good restraint this year. The Star Wars Triliogy cost over half (33.50) of "my" total of 75.54

I was going to spend around $400 on this sale, but ended up ordering my discs from elsewhere since DDD screwed up my first order so badly.

I spent $213.98 spread out over 2 orders.

During last summer's sale, I spent about $550. During last Fall's sale, I spent about $300.

$212.84. Much more than I had planned on, but I kept getting great ideas from other people's lists!

Question. Did someone order dvds through your account and have them sent to you?

As that is the only problem that could have happened.

Your credit card number is all asteriks except the last four digits.

All you needed to do was call them (they found out about their goof) and I am sure they would have sent you a free return label and have your credit card credited back with the full amount.

And if someone got your phone number, called you as a DDD CSR and told you they needed your credit card info to update their systems...then truly you deserved it.

For those keeping track at home, assuming the lowest possible number in each category (and zero for the first) this means DVDTalkers spent, at minimum, $29,126.42 at Deep Discount in this sale and those are just the folks who took the time to respond!

What - you mean aside from everybody knowing where I live and a large list of the DVDs I've ordered for the last 2 years, and knowing that I have a large number of easily fenced items decide to "visit" my house while I'm at work? Or that an enterprising criminal could figure out my credit card number from the last 4 numbers (Since the bank number - the first 9 digits are the same for each bank).

Since it's been a couple of months since this breech went down, and neither of these two extreme examples of what could go wrong have come to pass, its unlikely that anything bad will happen now. But I still see no changes in policy, they never addressed my security concerns, they never responded to my e-mails, and with the recent problems (double billing on some peoples orders), I don't see how they've changed at all.

DDD is still a half assed operation as far as I'm concerned. I don’t trust them, and I wont use them no matter how many "20% off sales" they throw at me, until I see improvement.

I'm in the "$150.01 — $225.00" range with three orders. I forget exactly. Last time I got in on the 20% DDD deal I spend $100. Inflation.
