Amazon's shipping usually this delayed?
 

I ordered DoTD:UE from amazon with the super-shipping. The set comes out on the 7th, but Amazon is saying it will ship on the 13th. Is their shipping usually this delayed?

you sure its not the Delivery estimate your reading, which would mean the day youy get it not the day it ships....

When I preordered Gilmore Girls Season, I ordered the most expensive Shipping because I wanted to give it to my friend on her birthday (the next day), but it got listed as shipping a week later... 3 days after that estimate it never shipped... i ended up cancelling and reordering and it went through just fine.

I wouldn't sweat it - I pre-ordered Star Trek TOS season 1 last Thursday from Amazon (which of course was released this past Tuesday). The estimated ship date for my order was given as 9/10 (for some inexplicable reason), but it actually ended up shipping on Tuesday (release day) and I got it today (9/2). And that was with plain old free shipping.

99% of the time (my only exception was the Warner Legends set-which was generally hard to find) it arrives at my house before the estimated ship date (usually, if I order at least a week before I release, I get it the day after it comes out in stores).

I never had anything ever ship or arrive by the estimated dates from Amazon. It's always sooner than estimated, but the actual delivery date could be a few days after the release.

Videodrome had a Delivery estimate: Sept 9, 2004 - Sept 11, 2004 but I received it yesterday. So you'll probably get yours a couple days after the release date.

Most of my Amazon preorders ship on Monday. Some on tuesday's, and rarely, but it does happen, a few have shipped on a wednesday.

They put a future date on it just to give themselves some leeway.

Generally, the dvds ship on its release date.

Normally Amazon gets me stuff within two days of the release date and that's with the Free shipping.

But the last month or so things have shipped really late from them. My copy of Forbidden ZOne which was released on Tuesday just shipped today, so I should have it by Monday, but that's almost a week late.
