DDD owns Dvdplanet?

I just got Lost in Space Season 1 from my DDD 20% off, yet it had a DVDPLANET sticker on it.

Maybe they share a warehouse or something.

The same company that owns DDD, bought DVD Planet a while ago from Image Entertainment. That's why you got a dvd from DDD with a DVD Planet sticker.

Funny... I was just getting ready to come post about this as I got an order from each yesterday with the same type of packing slip and same Itasca, IL return address... interesting.

If memory serves, the same parent company also owns Digital Eyes.

In September 2003, Image Entertainment sold DVDPlanet to Planet Entertainment, a subsidiary of Infinity Resources Inc.

deepdiscountdvd.com is one of Infinity Resources e-commerce sites. They have other e-commerce sites including: deepdiscountcd.com, heartlandmusic.com, serenademusic.com, ccmusic.com, dvdplanet.com and digitaleyes.net.

And Critic's Choice Video.

ScottyWH 06-30-04 09:08 AM

Pretty sure that Critic's Choice is the oldest of the names they use or have used...

Add Digital Eyes to the list that Infinity Resources owns.

Each online company, Deep Discount, DVD Planet and Digital Eyes all ship from the same Itasca, IL warehouse although each has their own pricing and shipping fees.

It's easy to understand the confusion!

I recently ordered a DVD from DDD, but it was out of stock, and has been back ordered for about a month now. However, I notice that DVDPlanet lists it as being in stock. How can this be if they are the "same company"? Should I try to order from DVDPlanet?

abbatazappa 07-08-04 11:42 AM

An update: I place an order with DVDPlanet for the same item listed as "available" on their website. The email confirmation came back as "backordered". I really, really wish they would keep the website up to date, now I feel like I've been misled into making an order, not to mention the hassle of having to cancel it. DVDPlanet off to a bad start for me......

dweavis 07-08-04 06:29 PM

I used to be affiliated with DVDPlanet and I am afraid that when something on their website says "available" it dosen't mean anything and keeping it up to date has nothing to do with it. It is just another way of letting you know that it is "available" to order which is pretty stupid I might add since if it weren't "available" to order it wouldn't be on the website in the first place. But anyway, the old "in stock", "out of stock", and other things it used to say is gone. Just be aware that when you place an order on that website that there is no guarantee that it is in stock. If you want a guarantee I would suggest calling their customer service and talk to someone on the phone.

abbatazappa 07-08-04 07:28 PM

Thanks for the insight. Still irks me, but then again it's not like this hasn't happened before with other etailers, who in various ways imply an item is available, only to have it be backordered ad infinitum.

flintstone_feet 07-09-04 01:33 AM

even the "in stock" and "out of stock" messages on the dvdplanet website were usually inaccurate. it's only gotten worse with "available" and "unavailable". whoever came up with that is a complete tool. nice customer service.

Sounds like they haven't improved at all from last year's collapse.
