Deep Discount DVD Code and Aftermath

All,

I removed the DDD 20% off coupon thread, the code which was posted was NOT a public code, appearently it was an internal testing code for them and no longer works.

More to follow soon.

DVD Josh 06-10-04 10:28 AM

Thanks for the update Geoff. I wonder if they are going to cancel the orders that went through.

JCFantasy23 06-10-04 10:29 AM

Ah, that explains it. Well, it does appear to be removed. So much for the order I was planning *big sigh*

duganrm 06-10-04 10:31 AM

good thing I didn't change any preorders from my amazon STL....

wonder what DDD will do. I will be happy either way. Not spending money or getting dvds.

dealer 06-10-04 10:32 AM

Yea it died right as I was removing a couple DVDs to hit submit heh.

jimbo99 06-10-04 10:32 AM

they wont cancel...

Jonny2k1 06-10-04 10:32 AM

Well that sucks, but I shouldn't have spent what I was about to anyway.

They will if it was for internal testing. This wasn't a misprice, but a leak from someone who works for DDD. That person won't be there tommorrow.

Red Dog 06-10-04 10:35 AM

Well that was a waste of an hour.

I doubt it was a leak. Someone probably just tried one of the old codes at checkout and it worked.

ChrisHicks 06-10-04 10:39 AM

they should get Jack Bauer to find the mole.

icruise 06-10-04 10:39 AM

Well, I wouldn't want them to lose a lot of money because of this kind of thing, but if it's just a question of selling something at wholesale, I think it would be a good customer relations move to honor the orders. I know it would make me favorably inclined toward shopping there in the future.

jimbo99 06-10-04 10:39 AM

thats bs, they can make anything up they want... (the code was meant for the ddd owners little sister and she blabbed it out at her school and it got out everywhere)...

drjay 06-10-04 10:40 AM

ARRGGG I had the stuff in my cart and had already cancelled my STL order, and now no go. ARGGH.

fishdude 06-10-04 10:40 AM

I always seem to be a few hours late on the deals.

Missed the fox 50% off and now this :(

That is not what happened.

I am sure it was just a mistake. Internal testing using all 4 codes from the sale last year

I bet they flagged the 4 codes by changing the date to a future date assuming they were going to delete them from the system before that date. Instead someone forgot and someone using google or another search engine found a mention of the usatoday code and tried it.

A thread happens and the thing spreads.

Sure someone at deepdiscount could have turned them back on intentionally I guess. No way they would pick all four codes from last time to internal test.

IMO. YMMV :D

gainer19 06-10-04 10:44 AM

Actually what happened was that the ghost of Regan came to me in the middle of the night and whispered the coupon codes in my ear. It was to make up for Reganomics.

007bugs 06-10-04 10:44 AM

While waiting for my order to process (which it didn't), I checked the sale prices against Columbia House/DV2 (also no tax and free shipping), and they were pretty close. This was to be my DDD order:
Bubba Ho-Tep (didn't get DDD price) - $16.79 @ CH/DV2
SLIDERS-1ST & 2ND SEASONS $64.80 - $53.99 @ CH/DV2
STAR WARS TRILOGY (WS) $41.88 - n/a @ CH/DV2
MONK-1ST SEASON $38.99 - $35.99 @ CH/DV2
Buffy Season 6 (didn't get DDD price) - n/a @ CH/DV2
Simpsons Fourth Season $36.59 - n/a @ CH/DV2
FLINTSTONES-COMPLETE 1ST SEASON $ 47.51 - $38.95 @ CH/DV2

duganrm 06-10-04 10:45 AM

got a confirmation email for the order I talked my dad into making.... Discount is still there.

Chris Harrison 06-10-04 10:49 AM

This sucks. I already cancelled one of my amazon STL orders because of this.

reefa 06-10-04 10:51 AM

Likewise, I did a pre-order and one for the Simpsons, crossing my fingers to make sure it ships w/discount.

Tony Dvdfan 06-10-04 10:52 AM

Finally was able to check my order....it doesnt mention the discount anymore, but my order total is the same as it was during the sale....hopefully it ships soon.
