best buy exchange question

i went in the other day for the 3 for $20 deal and i wanted the muppet triology, however, they only had 2 of the 3 (the muppet movie sold out). so i picked up mr deeds instead.

but i asked the checkout guy if i could come back in a few days and exchange it for a different dvd on the 3/20 list (as long as its unopened, will have receipt, etc)...he seemed unsure.

will they accept this exchange after the deal is over (today was the last day).

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have advice for the future: Just get a raincheck. Granted, it will take the customer-service person about 20 minutes (and the help of two other employees) to figure out how to do it -- it did in my case, at least -- but it will save you the hassle of trying to exchange a "Mr. Deeds" or some such crap...

They won't accept such exchange after the sale is over. They will simply ring up the one you are returning (the sale price you paid) and then the one you are exchanging for (at the price in effect at that time). Therefore, you will owe them $$.

I suggest you go in and get a raincheck for all 3 for $20. And buy all 3 when they replenish the stock.

But THE MUPPET MOVIE is now $8.88 at WalMart; not quite as good as the $6.66 you would have paid at BB, but not too far off either. When the local BB's run out of a special I want, I always make sure to order on line by Saturday night.
