bestbuy.com site seems to always be broken

So, howcome it seems almost every time I try and get to a Bestbuy.com page besides the index I get this
You don't have permission to access /site/olspage.jsp on this server.

error.

Are they idiots?

BigT 02-25-04 09:24 AM

I keep getting a page saying cookies are not set, although they are. It's the only site ever that has given me this message and I can't get around it. So, yes, I vote that they are idiots.

bboisvert 02-25-04 10:13 AM

This site has been one of the buggiest, least user-friendly major web sites I have ever seen... ever since the "improvements" they made about a year or so ago.

Unprofessional, clunky, and nearly impossible to search through.

Yes, I suspect they are idiots.

TheMadMonk 02-25-04 10:32 AM

I agree. Add terribly slow to the list, too; at least when when logging in and going through the checkout. Each page takes really long to load.

When I was on a dial-up internet connection, I could NEVER get an order to go through. Their site is very slow.

You'd think that for such a huge organization they would have a website that would rival Amazon's. LOL, I think I could program a better search engine than the one they have now! And maybe also keep that error from showing up all the time on the header of their pages.

fumanstan 02-26-04 12:31 AM

Well i haven't had any problems... a little on the slow side, but no biggie.

UAIOE 02-26-04 01:04 AM

I dont think the site ever worked right.

I remember when the site was rolled out back in '99, I remember the GM at my Best Buy store was saying how great and wonderful the site was.I seached the site for 2 minutes and never ever went back.

Even when we had to use the site *IN STORE* it was a clusterf**k to use...CD's not listed, tracklists werent shown, and DVD's that were out were also AWOL. I always told people to use Amazon because the site was a breeze to navagate and use.

If you guys only knew the system that they use to create the web site....

If you don't give it mega power in processor/memory/hard drive, you will notice problems with the site.

We run an older version of the same software that they use and it's not the greatest thing out there.

Their stores are usually broken too whenever I bother going into them.
