Target Return Policy ?

I'm looking to buy a camcorder.
Target says you have 90 days to return it for a refund with a receipt.

The sign says certain returned items such as camcorders...
will be charged a 15% restocking fee.

I called 2 of my local Targets and asked them about this.
One said they don't charge a restocking fee and the other said they could. I asked what did they mean they could and she said if the camcorder was used.

My question is how do they know ?
There's no seal on a camcorder box.

What's to stop them from saying it was used if it really wasn't ?

If you're that worried about it, don't buy it there.

What they are trying to protect against are people who buy things like camcorders, radar detectors, big screen TVs, etc, use them for a day or a few days (enough to cover their event (birthday, wedding, vacation, the Super Bowl, etc)), then return the item.

Wasn't it CircuitCity that made a big deal in their marketing ads not too long ago that they would take anything back no questions asked, even if it was open with regards to electronics? (There was a guy trying to return a VCR or something, and making up excuses and the guy in front of him said that there wasn't a need to.)

Circuit City is the way to go. They have a 30 day return policy, no questions asked. I won't lie, I took advantage of it once. I bought a digital camcorder (I couldn't afford the $2000! put it on my credit card), used it for three weeks to shoot my short film, then returned it. No hassles, nothin. Great thing they have going there, I actually go there and buy other stuff just cause that worked out so well.

Circuit City recently changed camcorders to being a 14-day return limit, as camcorders are now housed under their computer and technology department.

call a few targets and ask them their policy.
when i was looking for a tv i found that some sold floor models, some didn't.
i bought one then ended up returning it and got full credit for it.

sometimes the person you're talking to really has no idea about the policies.
