Where is the best place online to buy new and used vinyl records?

In person. Unless the records are brand new, I would stay away from mail order or online stores. If the etailers use the actual scoring system from the books to describe the record in question and they are trustworthy, then you can find some great things at great prices. If not, then you really don't know what condition the album is in when you buy it, since you can't inspect it or listen to it beforehand.

If you live in or near a decent sized city there are going to be a lot of used record shops to check out in person. That way you know what you're buying, can haggle on the price, and try it out first.

One online shop that will remain nameless sent me an album that was caked with dirt on one side. The grooves were literally light brown in color from it. This was represented as mint condition, and when I followed up with them about it I was told that the 1 side was mint condition, and chances are if I got the gunk cleaned out of the other side it would be mint condition too... I'm not naming them because I've been told that and lots of other probs were caused by an employee and the situation was taken care of, but I've never shopped online again, and probably never will.

I have alot of original 45's from the fifties and sixties and have used the above site to obtain reissues for spinning purposes on my RCA Victor HY-4 and HY-3 record players.
