Any comments on DDDHouse?

Was referred to DDDHouse for getting HK movies. The prices are great, but I can't find anything about the shipping costs. I've never heard of the site, and I'm kinda uneasy about giving them my cc#. Parts of the site are not there (shipping, help, contact), I can't even find anywhere about where the company is located, and half of the time, the site is unaccessible.

I've heard alot of people raving bout dddhouse, but based on what I've seen so far, I'm leery. But they've got Shaolin Soccer, Battle Royale and asian porn VERY VERY cheap!

They are reliable. I was also hesitant to order from them after hearing everyone talk so highly about them but they are fine.

I should warn though I have only ordered one time from them and it did take quite a while for shipping (about a month) which had me pissed off but the reason being held at customs so that explains it.

Do a search in this forum and the international forum. There are many threads discussing dddhouse. I've ordered from them a few times and have been satisfied. They are located in Hong Kong and are a reputable company. Their shipping (which is listed on the site) is $30 for the first dvd and $20 for each additional dvd (prices are in HK dollars).

What happens if a dvd that they send you doesn't play? Will they send you another one? The dvd that they sent is warped/scratched up.

I've ordered from them a few times and its never happened to me until now. I'd look on the website but its down right now, it seems and I searched in the International DVD forum but no luck on return/exchange policy.

I've never had problems with them. If you get a damaged disc they will normally send a replacement. Good service!

They are very good. I had commented that I only wanted region 0 NTSC films, and they even removed 1 title that I had selected but didn't fufill my criterion.

They also under-reported the value of the package and called it a gift, so had customs got it, I would have owed less $.

here's a tip. their shipping is what makes dvds cost much more. wait a while to purchase. make sure you are getting everything you want, ask some friends if they want anything. just my 2 dollars. (i am worth more)

How is DDDHouse's shipping calculated? Last time I checked, the shipping cost alone is almost $50!! I would have to buy a lot of DVDs to offset the expensive shipping. :(

PAL, here's the quote from their site on their shipping costs:

International Parcel : -
We mainly use Hong Kong Post Office registered air mail service for regular order.
We may use Speed Post service or UPS service for order 50+copies.
We charge shipping cost by quantity starting from 1 copy HK$30, 2 copies HK$50, 3 copies HK$70, 4 copies HK$90, 5 copies HK$105/HK$110, before final confirmation order, you will see your shipping cost.

That's in HK Dollars.

I've ordered from them about a dozen times and all has gone smoothly except for one DVD mistakenly listed as All region when it was Region 3. They made an exchange for me, although I had to pay return shipping.

Thanks for the info, rkndkn.

I know the prices on DDDHouse is in HK$, but I almost jumped off my chair when I saw that the shipping cost for about 30 DVDs was nearly HK$450! Anyway, it's not as bad if I ordered in larger quantities, but I might hold off on my purchase a little bit just because the shipping cost is close to 30% of the whole order.

The trick is: don't think of that HKD450.00 (approximately USD $60.00) as a shipping charge ...... for 30 DVDs, just mentally think of it as $2.00 more per DVD, and since most of them are in the $6-8 USD range, you're still getting a hell of a lot of DVDs for a very good price.

You might want to check out DVDShelf.com. Their prices are usually equal to or slightly lower than DDDHouse. And their Shipping Charge to the USA is only HK$330 for 30 DVDs.

The funny thing is, they shipped me my movies faster than some webs sites located here in the US do.

I've used www.dddhouse.com in the past. I never had a problem. They were quick with their e-mail responses.

I personally think that www.dvdshelf.com is cheaper. Try that site out.

Though I agree that you have to have a pretty large order to save. So, make sure you get everything you want.

For DDDHouse remember to select the cheaper returning customer shipping rates for North America starting with your second order if your first-time order is small. My first order a few years back was 3 DVD's, and I forgot to select the cheaper shipping for the next order. My orders are generally between 5 and 10 DVDs at a time, so rule of thumb for shipping is around $2 per item as Marty888 said. Below is a table for up to 10 items using $7.79 as currency factor although in the past Visa has given me $7.72. I set up some simple tables in excel so I can plan my orders to total a reasonable $50-$60. Over 10 items shipping cost is $8HK more per item, but after that you are on your own. With so many DVDs at $60, $40 or even $30HK, I look at the costs as $10, $7 or $6 shipped for those three price points. I don't buy anything over $100HK and wait for price drops or R1 releases. And to think i paid $25 for Sex & Zen on eBay 3 years ago.
Pardon my assterisks.
