The Wiz going out of business?

I was in the Wiz today looking to get the Ring and Star Trek IV, and they had neither. When I asked one of the employees why they didn't have any of today's DVD releases, they said shipments were slowing down because of anticipation that the Wiz chain is going out of business.

Hopefully there will be some DVD bargains if they have to sell off their entire inventory.

And I doubt there'll be any real DVD bargains. Many companies have third-party vendors stock the disc shelves.

According to this thread in the Bargains forum, the "going out of business" sale starts Saturday, March 8:

Originally ( a few weeks ago) the annoucement was that if the chain couldn't be sold by the end of June, they would fold -I guess they quickly discovered that The Wiz was a loser and Nobody Wants The Wiz is their new slogan.

Currently only 10% off on everything in the store, and no indication as to when that percentage will increase.

Yep, 10% off everything at the Scarsdale, NY location as well. It looks like they have already cleared out a lot of stuff, maybe to other dealers? I overheard an employee saying that they may be closed within 6 weeks. Too bad for them, I know a lot of those guys have worked there for quite a while.
