Question about return policies for damaged DVD's
My girlfriend bought me the new Pulp Fiction DVD for Christmas, which I just now took out of the box and watched. At one point, the movie seemed to pause and then pick up a few seconds later. At first I thought it was just a really bad layer change on my roommate's sucky DVD player, but then a minute later, it skipped about 2 more minutes of the movie. I took the disc out and sure enough, there was a big scratch (more of a gouge actually) on it.
I was wondering, what exactly is a store's policy for returning or exchanging a DVD that was already damaged? Will they try to say that I could have caused the damage or will they just take me at my word and give me a new one?
I think she got it at Walmart.

you might get better responses in the store forum, but i'll throw in my $0.02.
Most places would want the receipt to do a return. If it won't play and you have the receipt, you can usually take a disc back.

Hopefully she still has the receipt, but she bought it back before Christmas. She says she'll get around to looking for it but has more pressing issues at the moment.
