Best Buy: Widescreen vs Fullscreen

I was in Best Buy over the weekend and was surprised to see that someone printed out about a half dozen identical scene screen shots from Star Wars II in both widescreen and full screen. These were very good examples of why widescreen is so superior. In the Full Screen screenshots there were missing characters, key elements to the setting, etc.

This must have been done by somebody who was probably tired of being asked what the differences were. Any person new to DVDs would have to be an idiot to choose Full Screen over Widescreen after looking at these.

Now why don't they do this in every Best Buy, rather every store that sells DVDs in the country then maybe we could all rid ourselves of Full Screen.

Although jarsim's idea is a good one, the hard truth is that the great unwashed do NOT want to be educated to the benefits of widescreen.

There will come a day (sooner than later) when it will be the "in" thing to buy a widescreen set. At that point these folks will want widescreen DVDs.

In the meantime, they will be content to "fill up" their 1.33 sets without those "ugly" black bars!

And some of the smarter ones will figure out that the studios didnt teach them about widescreen so that the poor schmucks will buy the movie twice.

You watch, someone is gonna sue the studios over that. Probably claim that the studio didnt inform them about widescreen.

Hey, noboday comes out of the womb knowing about OAR and widescreen. There are a lot of people who just don't understand the purpose of widescreen (I once fell into this category). I think that if everybody was shown examples of the differences, we would convert a lot more people over to the OAR camp.

The problem is that the masses will probably never visit widescreen.org, so if you can get those pictures to them, without them having to do anything, it will help.
