DeepDiscountDVD.com spamming
Has anyone receive spams from DeepDiscount DVD ? I've received 4 -5 in the past 2 weeks. I've sent them my request to opt-out twice and sent a mad message to them asking to remove me immediately about a month ago, I still get new spam. My next move is to put them on news.admin.net-abuse.sightings and try to get them into the SPEWS list (www.spews.org).
Any reputed retaillers should use an opt-in list instead of opt- out, they don't respect out-out requests. Now I'm getting fed up with their spam and will never do any business with them again. Anyone can recommend some good vendors who doesn't spam so I can give my $$ to them ? -nocloo |
I also started receiving spam on my email account with them. The bad thing is I cannot block these spam mails because they're using bogus email accounts, their description is also different every time, and the sent date is a week behind.

Funny, I've been a customer for a while and never had this problem. Only the "We've shipped you a package today" mails - and even those are infrequant.
Have you actually called them? The CSR folks are quite helpful and can probably straighten you out. |

Yep, I've getting them as well. I've only ordered one disc from them, but since then the spam has started coming. I usually don't bother with opt-outs since they're usually bull and verify your address as active, but I'll give it a shot here.

What kind of spam are you getting? Did you try logging into your account info and un-checking the box to receive the newsletters?

Yes, I unchecked the newsletter when I registered longtime ago. Then the spams suddenly appears from the blue a month ago. They provided some link or e-mail address to unsubscribe from Spam. I did that, then I still got spam, I sent an e-mail to the CSR requesting the removal of my e-mail address from their list.
Today I get another spam from them, for their CDs. I never bought any CD from them, I only registered myself on deepdiscountdvd.com ... not deepdiscountcd.com. All in all, bad business pratice, so from now on I'll get my DVDs elsewhere, block their domain off my mail server and give the info to many e-mail blacklist that I can so they can stay there until the spam stops. |
I've ordered around 30 DVDs from them and only get the "we've shipped your order" emails. I may have received 1 spam about the opening of deep discount cd, but never received anything else.
They are really the only place I order online from. They've always price matched my DVDs and they are very prompt in their shipping. |

i kept getting their weekly or bimonthly news/sale letter. i don't mind since i think i clicked that box when i first joined, but since that email address has be come flooded with spam, not at all connected to DDD. i made a new one but i still like the old address so i've been trying to fight the spam and get opted out from everything. DDD still kept on sending the email to me, i tried to unsubscribe like 3 times and each time i get a return email right after as if i registered some sort of xustomer service need.
i think the fourth time was the charm though. |
First, I'm not telling them how to conduct their business, I do however do criticize their business pratice. I can't tell Microsoft how to conduct their business, but criticizing their way of doing is another matter.
In short, I've tried to unsubcribed 2-3 times, didn't work, then I sent a direct e-mail to their CSR. I felt just short of calling them, but to begin with, why should I call them,? I didn't give them the permission to spam me. My next call will be asking them to close my account altogether. Buying from their web site doesn't give them the right to spam me, nor selling my personal info to other people, so they can spam me futhermore or send mass credit card junk to my house. Which has been the case of many online retailers. Finally, I'm not freaking out, but simply frustrated, as there are more and more online retailers who has taken the path of the penis pills eaters, viagra masturbaters, chronic pedophiles out there and start spamming their customers. I just voice my frustration out here and hope that with enough unhappy customers, they would discontinued their spamming without strict opt-in rules and have a reliable method of opt-out forever from the spam. -- |
I used to get a lot of DDD emails. But I followed their link to unsubscribe to their list. I don't remember getting any emails from them other than the order status emails. You might need to make sure you are unsubscribing from the right email address. If you use email forwarding, you might actually try to unsubscribe your email address that is not in their list.

I had this very problem also.
I have bought many DVDs from DDD, but had opted out of their advertising early on. Suddenly, 6 months ago, the emails started coming. I emailed to be removed from their mailing list, then again, 13 times (what was I thinking?) I did this! During this time I also started receiving spam from DDCD (I have never bought anything from them). A call to customer service got me removed...finally. |
Hmm. . . .been buying from DDD since day one and have never received spam. I feel left out.

I don't have a problem with DDD, I still buy DVDs there, I just wish it were easier to change email preferences without having to email or call someone. P.S. If the majority of your emails were for 'Special Deals', and not just posting "Lowest Total Online Price", I would be more interested in receiving them. -Matt |

First, thanks David for your prompt reply. I just want to vent my frustrations after numerous unsuccessful attempt to unregister from the spam list. I guess everything is in order now and hope that we'll do business again.
---- On a separate note, to the loser who has been going around on the past two days, right after my post here and did subcribe my mail address to the various junk e-mail list out there. I'm tracking you down seriously, you're on a an AT&T network and a report has been filed to the abuse department to get more info, and I will report to your local authority, police department once I've all the information. A special filter has been crafted to send the junk you subscribed with my e-mail address directly to the trash. I'm not sure if the admin of DVDTalk can give me the ID of the poster based on an IP address I got ? Or just tell me if he's a DVDTalk's user. I've been a customer of theirs for over a year now, have made many purchases, I haven't received any spam. If I remember correctly, I was offered offered the newsletter but declined when the account was created.
