DIE Amazon DIE!!

I consider myself a normally calm person, but after the last month of screw ups from Amazon...I'm ready to nuke the sumbitches.

I went for the Amazon $20 coupon that was offered through AT and T for signing up on-line payments (hear about this?). I received it in a short period of time. After deciding what I wanted, (Better Off Dead) I ordered it up. I waited...and waited...and waited...two weeks pass.
Again, being a nice and calm guy, I gave Amazon the benefit of the doubt. I went to the web site in search of a form of contact. Using the e-mail function on their website, I sent a NICE letter stating that I had not received BOD and that if they could let me know what to do about it, that would be super fantastic. No response after 36 hours. Did you folks ever notice that there no such thing as a telephone number listed on the website? I know, I know...you can do a web search for Amazon's 800 number...but that's too much work! It should be right there. I'll get to Amazon's response to that later.
I call the 800 number and after talking with someone for a couple of minutes...they decide to send me a second shipment. The guys response to the missing 800 number was "We are an internet company sir, so we purposely don't put our number up there, we would rather get e-mail responses." And I'm thinking to myself "No wonder they don't put the number up, you would have to talk to a wonderful customer service rep like yourself big boy."
GREAT! It comes three days later. I pop open the box and kiss my movie...but to my shock and horror, I was charged the full amount!!! I run to my computer, check Amazon on-line...sure enough...there's the coupon...there's the adjusted total...but, the shipping statement says different. So, again, giving Amazon the benefit of the doubt, I call the bank. "Oh, no Mr. Bilkey, that's correct, they did charge you the full amount."
I call back the next day. How many of you would be nice at this point?

I was nice. After many "I'm sorry"'s I was offered a refund of the $20 or I could keep the coupon and use it later. Well, you know, I figured I was going to buy another one soon anyway, so I said that I would keep it. Later that evening, I logged on to the Amazon site, picked out Say Anything and...blip! Amazon can not process your order at this time...please try again later. This went on for a couple of hours. I gave up. I figured, the next morning, that it would be wise of me to just call and manually have the run the order so that I wouldn't get screwed out of my coupon again. I called, placed the order on Sept. 3rd.

Later, on the 6th of Sept. I received a NICE e-mail from Amazon stating that my order was delayed and that I would receive it somewhere between the 12th and the 24th. WOO HOO!!!! Well, guess what kiddies?!?! It's the 25th! NO MOVIE. The mailbox just gaped it stupid empty hole at me, yawning at the frustration on my face. Guess who I called today? Do you think I was nice? For two minutes. After the guy told me that I would have to wait until the 27th to see if the movie still hadn't showed up for me to call back...I HULKED out. Bruce Banner dead...my forehead vein pulsed whilst I spit profanity at the phone.

"I'm sorry that this has happened sir. The best that I can do right now is refund you the shipping cost."

Whoop de frickin' do. What's that like $2.95? Kiss my ass.

I've been buying DVD's for the last three and a half years. I've slowly built myself up to somewhere near 225 of 'em. Quite a few have been purchased from Amazon. You know, I hate being that guy. You know the one I'm talking about if you've been in retail...it's the guy that comes in pissed, threatening to "NEVER BUY FROM YOU AGAIN" guy. I used to laugh at that guy. Best Buy, here I come. I'm done. Spent.

I needed to rant.

Wow, you are a calm person. I would be in jail by now for doing something stupid. (need more anger management)

Moving to the "Kill The Store" Forum.

That's funny...there's a KILL THE STORE forum??? HAHAHA.

Amazon's taken a bit of a quality hit lately - I had a similar problem with my order of Downtown 81. It just got here today. Whee!

I think the shipping deals have forced them into more orders and set things out of whack. I'm starting to think I should pay more for the shipping on this stuff. Main reason I'm buying from them is because I favor obscure/indie movies and so they aren't always ones that can be picked up in Whitebread Store. We're finally getting a Best Buy in Denton, but still.

After all that hassle you should have taken the credit. Start clean and put that whole $20 coupon mess behind you.

You chose another coupon and tempted fate by creating more possible problems. After all that crappy service there is just no choice at all.

Not blaming you, just making you aware that when you have a choice of calling it quits while you are ahead you should do just that.

how about..........

I understand what you have been through.

The other day I found Buffy Season 2 for $22 in the Gold Box and I place the item in the cart and checkout and place the order in no less than 3 minutes. I was laughing and felt happy I got such deal. Guess what? My order magically disapear from my account the next day as if I had never placed that order. Whyyyyyyyyy!!! I E-mail Scamazon and they don't know anything about it and they ask me to place my order again. Again!!???? How? I lost that offer and all the laughter and happiness turned into anger and tears.

The next time I order from them I had a $25 GC and I pre-order:

Blade II
Monster's Inc.
Beauty and the Beast

The next week I just happen to change my mind and decided to change my order and I cancel this order and had in mind to order:

Monter's Inc.
Beauty and Beast
Ice Age

Guess what??? The $25 GC never came back to my account. Once again it magically dissapear. My head was spining rapidly, my heart was racing and I almost droping in tears. I could've died of a heart attack. I e-mail Scamazon and they don't know anything about a $25 GC!! What!!!!!!!! They only knew about the cancel order and that's it. I was thinking in my head (just give me my F#@$ing money, s#!t)

In the end I didn't get my Buffy Season 2 and my $25 GC.

You know what "mdbilkey70" I'll help you nuke those sumbitches.

The guys response to the missing 800 number was "We are an internet company sir, so we purposely don't put our number up there, we would rather get e-mail responses."
If they encouraged people to use their 800 number, their prices would go up because they'd have to hire a boatload of people to man the phones. And there would never be enough operators, there would be interminable call queue waits, and the customers would complain even more...

Exactly! I am very happy their 800 number is not listed because everytime I call I get someone within 2-3 minutes.

I have ordered from Amazon for years and have not had any problem with their service and in fact on a recent defective item I had (an IPOD) they gave me absolutely first class service in replacing the item. I was so happy with their service I have gone out of my way to tell others about it. Any online store than deals with millions of orders is going to have problems at times.

That sounds like just a tad of an overreaction over $25. Does $25 really mean so much to you that you a practically in tears and almost having a heart attack over a missing $25 GC or are you just exagerrating to make your point? If the thought of potentially losing $25 is so emotionally devastating you might what to just buy at B&M where you don't have to worry about things such as packages being lost in the mail.

I never really like amazon. In fact..i've only ordered 2 things from them my entire life!

When we got net access...i found the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack. Excellent! My little brother always ordered the G.I.:The Movie at the same time.

Recently..i just got the Unrated version of Dead Alive(since all the stores only had the R version!)..thats it..i'm sure i'm done with them now.Their prices really suck & are a few bucks higher than everyplace else(besides Sam Goody & stuff).

What i really hate is trying to write a review on a certain movie. I gave up after trying 3 times over the past 4 years. Out of all of them..only one was actually posted,my first & worst review(since i was a amature)..yet all my actually good, thought out reviews were discarded!

I'd email them & ask whats up.They tell me,"whats the post #?"..so i email them..they go look it up & say some ******** about "we're sorry..all your review states was not directed at the film itself!" The review was for Dead Alive,& i mentioned how great the film was,yet to avvoid at all costs the R version & the reasons why to be helpful.

So i tell them..what the hell are you talking about? I reveiwed the dam movie, then politely mention to avoid the censored version,is that really so bad?"....they told me to try sub-mitting another review...i did..this time no mention of any censorship, just praised the film..& that was never posted...got the same **** from 'customer service' as before & told them to **** off,it's just a waste of time!

It's funny one review i saw on the site has a person stating "I know this may not be posted & asks why are none of my reviews posted?..watch this will probably show up & its not even a review"...& that 'review' was posted!

I bet the 'customer service' reps are a bunch of slacker geeks getting high off their 'power' over amazon reviews..& ****ing around with everyone.

I have never had a problem with Amazon. However, I order most of my DVDs from Deep Discount DVD. Their prices are so much better, and I can wait 1-2 weeks if the shipping is free.

Calistoga 09-26-02 11:27 PM

Amazon has totally hit the skids this year. Their pathetic little $5 off $35 coupons are hardly worth the multitude of headaches. I agree, Deep Discounts is much better.

batjann 09-27-02 01:28 PM

This is probably a crazy question. BUt what is the link to deep discount? And do they ship everywhere?

rkndkn 09-27-02 03:54 PM

See link at the top of the page, just under the word "SHOP".
