Selling DVD's......need help.

Can anyone help me with this. I want to pick up some extra cash selling things on Ebay and I was thinking about selling DVD's. My question is where do I get wholeseller deals for DVD's. I mean bulk purchases. I wouldn't mind opening kinda like a ebay store. I lack alot of information/connection. Can anyone educate me on how to buy DVD in bulk?

Or if anyone else sells DVD's on ebay like a store. Can you give me tips?

Thanks.

Jim

I sell Xbox games on eBay. And I'll be offering DVDs soon. What I had to do according to my state laws was first get a sellers permit. This can be done with your State Board of Equalization. Here in California we are not required to collect sales or use tax on out of state sales. But, I do if someone from CA orders from me. Some states do require you to collect a use tax, I'm not sure of the ones though. If you use your real name in your business you don't need to file forms for a business permit.

Then you need to find a real distributor. Not those fake wholesalers and dropshippers you see on the net. Once you have your sellers permit they will let you open an account with them and sell to you at the real wholesale price. The one that I use requires a minimum sales volume of at least 100 units per quarter.

This is just enough to help you start.

Thank you so much! You've been a great help.

Tazwolff,

Thanks so much for your help. I was wonder....how much would one unit of DVD cost? And how many DVD's are in one unit? Just a rough guess...

A unit is just one DVD or item. As for the price I can't say. An agreement I had to sign with the distributor. But when I start offering DVDs I'm thinking of going with a different distributor. The one I'm with now mainly deals with video games and equipment.

Ok so a unit is only 1 DVD. I was thinking a unit would be like a box with 25 DVD's. So 100 units really isn't that bad to turn over within a quarter.

It's hard to find a good distributor. I've been looking around the net and every site I find doesn't look very reliable.

Can you suggest any that have a website?

Thanks again. You've been really helpful.

For DVDs I'm going with SuperD at sdcd.com They are a real distributor and will require a sellers permit and credit app.

When you say a minimum sales of 100 units, do you mean 100 total DVD's, or a minimum order of 100 per title (could you order 100 separate titles, or do you need to order in groups of 100)?

Also, are the discs shipped in bulk to you, or do they provide a drop-shipping service? Do you have to do all of your own packaging and mailing?

Finally, what happens if you dip below 100 sales per quarter. Do they simply cancel your membership or are there greater ramifications.

Thanks for your help!

100 units is 100 items. No dropshipping, this is a distributor for retail sellers. If I drop below 100? Well I don't know. Never happened to me. Xbox games sell like hot cakes. And when I start to sell DVDs I'd imagine they would sell damn quick too at 40% under MSRP.
