DDD Free shipping is Awful!
Consider more than the final price if you want to get your order in less than 2 weeks with the free shipping option. I am getting orders out of Canada in half that time! They blame the USPS,but then they can't explain why it's just them that takes so long. I just thought I would warn anybody considering a purchase from them.

Are you referring to DeepDiscountDVD? I think it is the shipping. They mention that the free shipping is shipped via Media Mail. This takes a while to get to its destination. I've had orders shipped out to me on the next day, but the USPS takes a while to get the item to me. Check out the day it was shipped on your package.
|
I had one order take like 20 days to get to me but it arrived. I was really pissed at the time but the average time for me would be 6-10 days from when it was shipped on most orders. I guess you never know what you get with free shipping.

Yes ,Deep Discount DVD
I know you get what you pay for,but they are the worst for me by far!
|
I've NEVER had to wait more that 7 days from the time I order to delivery!
I have them sent to my business address, I don't know if that makes a difference. Sonicflood |
DDD is the fastest shipper for me. I've never had to wait more than three days to get my order. It all depends on where you live. If you don't like media mail, you can always upgrade to priority mail.
|
Shipping times seem to be related to location. They ship out of the mid west (near chicago) so some people seem to get their orders faster than others
One thing that seems to work well is to try to pre-order the titles you're interested in. They often take into account the time it takes to ship to you and get things close to street date. |
DDD has always done right by me. I'm not wild about Media Mail in theory, but I live in the middle of nowhere, and the longest wait I've every had was 7 days, and I still got the item before the street date. It usually averages 4-5 days.

I live about 20 miles from where DDD is located and my packages still take about 3 days to arrive. Of course I could go pick it up but that means taking time out of my day and I don't get it any cheaper. My brother, just over the border in Wisconsin, says it takes about 4 days for him to get his packages. All in all, it depends on where you live (it doesn't help if you live in a small town either).

I have heard that the average shipping time for media mail is faster if you include your ZIP + 4 code for your address, instead of just the 5-digit zip code.
Don't know why that would be true. Probably just urban legend. |
My Mr.Show shipped on 6/4 and I'm still waiting for it. I don't mind the longer wait - its not like I'm gonna watch it as soon as I get it.
|
Usually takes about 7-10 days for me (to Buffalo, NY). The great thing about living in Buffalo is that packages from Canadian etailers--especially ones based in Ontario--arrive in about two-three days...
|
I don't understand why somebody would read on DDDVD that media mail takes 5-10 business days (that's business days, Saturdays and Sundays and holidays DO NOT count) then go to message boards and complain it takes that long to get the mail. Pay 3.95 for priority shipping if it bothers you. Personally, I could care less. I have so many unwatched DVDs that my world won't fall apart if I don't get a particular title in three days.
|
My stack of unwatched DVDs is approaching HUGE numbers. DDD can take a month to get a disc to me for all I care -- all I want is the cheapest overall price, good selection, and professional service. DDD scores on all three counts.
If I want to watch a title right away, I'll go to Best Buy or something. I'm happy waiting (usually about 5-7 days) for dirt cheap prices and no shipping charges. |
I tried DDD for a little while but got fed up with waiting between 14-20 days for my DVDs to arrive in Oregon. Jerry maguire took a month to arrive although I'm pretty sure that got lost in some Post office somewhere. I've gone back to amazon because the shipping costs with the occasional GC are fairly light, and overall there's maybe a dollar or two difference in my orders between the two -- not enough to hassle over.

The Reason Is!
The reason I complained was to dispute DDDVDs excuse that it was the fault of the USPS. No US mail takes 10 business days to be delivered.I should know.I work there! But, thank you for taking the time from watching your multitude of unseen discs. (yawn) And honoring me your opinion.

Unless you happen to live near the place it's being shipped from, expect to wait. In some cases, expect to wait an extremely long time. |

Their Web site says (at least it used to, I don't know if it does anymore) that you should receive your product in 14 business days.
I had an order that took longer than this and so I called them and asked about it. They immediately sent another shipment, no questions asked, and did not ask for the original shipment to be returned if it arrived (it finally did after about 4 weeks). THat, in my opinion, is great service, and I would not fault DDD at all if your order takes a long time. |

A more recent pre-order (in March for a June release) got here the Saturday of release. If the prices between DVD Empire and DDD are close, though, for me, certainly DVD Empire will get me the DVD in one to two days even with the $1.10 shipping (they're in PA), whereas DDD will make me wait. However, on catalogue DVDs, no stores come close to DDD's prices, so I just deal with the lengthy wait. It is a tradeoff, I guess. Damn_USPS! |

Upgrade your shipping if it takes the USPS to deliver.
Media mail seems to process quicker sometimes if you include your 4 digit zip code extension. I do and usually get mine within 7 day's or less. |
The first few DVDs I ordered from DDD took 2-4 business days each to arrive (including a couple of pre-orders I got the Saturday before they hit stores), but everything I've ordered within the past month has taken longer, in the 6-7 business day range. Maybe the volume of mail has gone up with graduation cards and whatnot, or maybe they aren't getting them in the mail as fast as they used to...but whatever it is, I'm not complaining, and I'll keep ordering from them.

media mail = 4th class = whenever the hell USPS decided to deliver it
