CDNOW credit card question

Has anyone ever had to send in their credit card statement and copies of their credit card to CDNOW? I just placed an order with them for about $120 and they emailed me back saying they needed this stuff 'for my security'. This is the first time I've used this credit card with them, but they never asked me for this info the first time I used my other card with them. They also said that since the billing/shipping addresses don't match, they gotta do this. Is that legal?

nope. i dun have such request b4. but i know of other online stores have such request. u just have use a marker to cover up those sensitive info.
