Direc TV what is a new customer?

Do they consider you a new customer only if you never had an account or just no current account? Is the customer based on the phone number or name? I was a customer 3 years ago and am thinking about going back but I don't want to get cut out of a rebate or what have you as I paid full price back in the day when I got my system, anyone know the 411 on this?

As of a few years ago, and with Dish Network, a customer was defined by the house address, not the person. Thus, if anybody at your house ever had Dish Network, you were an existing customer.

The example that I was told by the place where I bought my dish was that this girl had Dish Network and was going to cancel it before she moved in with her fiance. The customer service rep asked her where she wanted the last bill to be mailed and she gave him the new address. A few months later the boyfriend wanted to sign up for Dish Network as a new customer but couldn't (as a new customer) because that address was in Dish Network's system as already being a customer (because the final bill had been mailed there).

You could just call DirectTV and ask.

It's done by address/phone number and sometimes credit card # (if that's how you paid at one time).
