Paypal
Did you got any problems using paypal? is there service are really good?
|
I dunno what this got to do with DVDs, but they are ok.
|
the service kinda sucks since they have a way of delaying payment and then they take a percent. this belongs in the other forum. :)
|
I've used it many times. The only time they take a percentage out is if you are a premiere member and take credit card charges. As far as I know anyway, because everytime I have bought and sold on ebay and used it, I always see the correct amount end up in my Bank Account.
|
Paypal is an awesome quick service for buying and selling at eBay.
|
There has been some horror stories from paypal. over all it can work, but you have to make sure you are using it to the best that you can.
|
Moving to the Store Forum.
|
I've used them for a couple years and haven't had any problems.
However, some people have had horror stories that you may want to read at these sites: http://www.PayPalWarning.com/ http://www.paypalsucks.com/ |
I no longer use them, either for selling or buying. My opinions are in line with those shared at the two web sites listed above.
|
PaPal is good as long as you don't get stuck with the fees for the "business" account that your using for personal purposes. And also if you keep your balanace low and don't use it to buy or sell anything expensive.
|
All I can say is... stay away from these crooks! I started an account while overseas. Gave them U.S. bank details, U.S. address, & credit card info. They confirmed all was OK with my bank and opened an account for me. Soon as I put $45 in my account to pay for an item I won on ebay they "locked" my account claiming I am uneligible for an account because I opened it from Thailand!! Why didn't they say so before they got my money??? All emails sent to them are not replied to. No phone numbers on their sorry web sight.
Only thankful it's only $45 they have stolen form me! |
Some weeks back, I received an E-mail from PayPal stating that they were raising the sending limit for unverified purchases up to $2,000.00. So far, my sending limit hasn't increased to $2,000.00. It was at $1,000.00 and is shrinking. :)
Have any unverified members out there had their limits increased yet? |
PayPal = Spawn of Satan
Friends don't let friend's use PayPal.
Too many horror stories to list here - suggest you check these site and draw your own conclusions: www.paypalwarning.com/ www.ygoodman.com/paypal.html www.salon.com/tech/feature/2001/02/23/pay_pal/ zdnet.com.com/2100-11-502663.html?legacy=zdnn www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/23479.html www.outofthedark.com/CorporateWars/PayPal/ www.consumeraffairs.com/online/paypal_01.html chips.dyndns.org/~xcomvic/ groups.yahoo.com/group/PayPalPeril/ groups.yahoo.com/group/xcom-victims/ clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/paypalconsumerrights mfg-buyback.dns2go.com/ |

Just do what I do. State in your auction that the buyer will have to pay extra fees if they use paypal, and therefore I just pass on the cost of Paypal to the buyer. I think it's a great service, they even give you a debit card u can use online or to get money out of an ATM (costs a buck though).

I've done over 300 business transactions from paypal and I've only had 3 "problems", 2 solved, 1 I would have lost anyways.
People don't realize paypal is not an escrow service. From my business perspective, it is well worth having. Some of these horror stories I read are not paypal's fault. If you send someone $2000 for something via paypal and the person sends you nothing, that's not paypal's fault. |
This has just made me paranoid. Are other alternatives such as billpoint or c2it any better?
|
The US Gov't has just ruled that PayPal is NOT a bank, so they don't get the same protections as such. I think that means they lost their FDIC coverage.
Can anyone add to this? |
Paypal had an IPO but has some possible regulatory problems. In Paypal's own User's Agreement, Paypal mentions that it is not a bank (and is thus not obligated to support you or protect your funds as a bank would). More details are mentioned in a recent BusinessWeek article at:
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...5/b3768117.htm Offering: $13 per share PayPal execs pay: $3.79 (averaged) per share IPO Book Value: $1.11 per share So, selling of IPO shares benefits PayPal the company only somewhat, whilst a lot of the stock purchase price goes to the existing stockholders rather than to the company itself. Book value can be deceptive as things like proposed Rule 910 could be used to shift assets so that creditors (you) cannot Attach the assets if Paypal declares bankruptcy. Pretty clever. More info on a class-action lawsuit filed against PayPal is at: http://www.wired.com/news/ipo/0,1350,50612,00.html |

Is Paypal down right now?
I just tried to access their website at 10:35 am PST and I am getting an error message. Can anyone else access their site? Thanx Chris
|
Forget it, it's up now!
|
I've been using PayPal since they started up I believe. I'm verified business member or something like that. Never had any problems. And I don't charge the eBay buyers the fee. Why? Well I don't want to wait for the money order. Plus, it usually isnt that much and you get the cash instantly.
